Rotary Fun Run with Thomas on the Bellarine Rail Trail, Sunday, March 13th
Looking for something to do on the upcoming Labour Day weekend? Enjoy a fun family day out while raising funds for
the Kids Plus Foundation. Rotary will be hosting a Fun Run with Thomas on the Bellarine Rail Trail at the Drysdale
Railway Station on Sunday March 13th from 9:30am to 1:30pm. The aim is to make the day a healthy, FUN, active day
for all the family, while raising funds for Kids Plus a Geelong based, parent driven, not for profit organisation. Kids Plus
provides paediatric intensive therapy programs for children with neuro physical disabilities, in particular children with
cerebral palsy, stroke or brain injury, at no cost to families.
Activities on the day include: A series of Fun Runs with Thomas for children up to the age of 12 years; Entertainment
and activities for young children and their families (Animal Farm; Magic Show and roving magician; Face Painting;
Jumping Castle; Chair O Plane; Rides on Troublesome Trucks) Food and drink stalls; Picnic area and playground;
Community group stalls. For more information visit www.thomasfunrun.com.
Ashby will be hosting a stall at the event. See Can You Help for more information about how can you can support the
school.
The vouchers can be used until Easter at any of the five Brumby store locations in Geelong:
While we encourage you to purchase vouchers for your own use, we have also created a flyer that you can download
from the Friends of Ashby blog (http://friendsofashby.blogspot.com/ ) to share with family, friends and co-workers so
they can also order vouchers through the school, helping us raise even more money!
Vouchers will be distributed as orders are received. Please note there has been a printing delay, and while we had
expected the vouchers last week, we are now expecting them to arrive this week. For those who have submitted orders,
we appreciate your patience and we will fill your order as soon as the vouchers arrive from Brumby’s.

• Garden Shed Building, Sunday, March 6th 12-5pm – If you have building skills we can use your help as we
continue to construct the new garden shed in the back oval. If you can help, join us anytime this Sunday
afternoon.
• Manning Ashby Stall at the Rotary Fun Run with Thomas, Sunday, March 13, 9:30-1:30pm – We are looking
for volunteers to help man an Ashby stall at the Rotary Fun Run with Thomas. We will be selling mask kits, as well

are welcome. A great chance to volunteer and then have fun with your kids! If you can volunteer for a one hour
shift on the day contact FOA at friendsofashby@gmail.com, send a note through your child’s teacher to the office
or speak with Cyndy Scherer.
• Nitty Gritty Checks: If you have an eye for detail ( or at least eggs and lice!) the parent managed head lice
program needs you. Once a term ( usually the 3rd Thursday) we get together to perform checks on the students.
It’s a small team of supportive volunteer parents so a helping hand would be greatly appreciate. A current working
with children check is required and a confidentiality agreement signed initially to get started. Please contact
Louise Mobile: 0430 118 674 for further information.
