To perceive how blended learning will proceed when classes formally open in the
upcoming school year, the District of Bulacan prepared a lot of dry run this September.
Since face-to-face conduct of classes will be prohibited due to Covid 19 pandemic. Our
school, Taliptip National took the task wholeheartedly to anticipate the possible
scenario/outcomes/problems in doing the Blended Learning (Online and Modular Teaching)

This simulation online demonstration teaching dry run must ensure the efficiency of this
modality once applied in the school and be used to determine the readiness of our school.

So last September 22, 2020 at exactly 11o’clock in the morning. My demonstration teaching
was started. At first, I thought it would be moved early due to internet stability/error of the
first demonstrator in the schedule. But she came back on time. Before the demo teaching
happened, I had to ask and informed my future students so that they could prepare their
workplace, internet connection and themselves. As my Online Demonstration teaching was
going on, I checked my internet stability, my microphone and camera. I also check my
PowerPoint presentation on my Google Meet screen share.

On this Online Teaching dry run, I realized that it was also the same with normal set up, but
it was just happening online and not face to face. but still these little changes had great
adjustments and impact to the learners and teachers as well.

I started my class with a warmth greeting.

I also explained the Class etiquette during the discussion so that we could have a smooth
flow of the lesson. Show to them the physical features of the modules that they would receive
soon, discussed some parts of it and give reminders on how to use the modules properly.

I started the discussion proper like what I did in a normal set up in the classroom. It was
started on a prayer led by the student. After that, I asked them “How’s their day? How they
spend their quarantine period? Just to set the mood of the students. I also check their
attendance by calling out their names and say Hello.
After that, I asked them to tell me on what they see in my screen. And they actively
participated. I was happy that they easily recalled the previous topic.
I gave the objectives of the lesson so that they were guided. Although it was happening online, I
tried my best to let them join in the topic. I asked one of the students to read the first activity.
It needed seconds to response because the students also adjusting in using the Google Meet.
but it was ok. It went well.
After reading the given activity, I instructed them to answer the test to identify on what they
know already. After few minutes, we checked it and I asked their scores. After that, we proceed
in the lesson proper.
In the lesson proper, I was the one who read the text so I can explain it at the same time. The
learners are also shared their ideas and read the statements. I had to make sure that I discussed
everything before they proceed on their modules.

Although, I was the one who read it, I made sure that in every paragraph, I asked
questions if they were following. And they were also giving opinions on the text since it was
about family. It was very relatable and timely due to pandemic. The discussion was smooth
since the given components of Health Related Fitness have Video on how to perform the
different test

After the lesson proper, I asked them if they understand the topic. As a teacher, it was
hard to see on their facial expression because some of them already turned off the camera
which I did not monitor while I discussing my lesson unlike in normal set up I could see
everything in the classroom. After that, before I ended the time, I explained everything on their
activities in the modules. Repeat some reminders about it and tell them that if they had
questions, they could chat, text and call me to raise their questions about the modules. I ended
the online teaching with the closing prayer.
This online Demonstration teaching was a big step for October 5, 2020. Although, it
was a dry run. I could see the positive and negative sides. It is good because students become
aware in the new dimension of learning. They could learn at home. They could maximize their
time if they will what they need to do as a student. As teachers, it is challenging but fulfilling
because this is what teachers mean. Teachers do not stop in learning new things. We are very
flexible and easy to adapt. What we have learned during the pandemic helps us to teach — and
what we have learned is to throw out the old-school rule book on how to educate a young
mind. Let us face the new normal.
