A. Reviewing previous On manila paper, answer the KWL chart and record what you know(K), what you want
Lesson or presenting to know (W) and what you have learned about the topic.

B. Establishing a purpose You and your cousins noticed that the sea starts its low tide and beachfront starts to
for the Lesson show up. You all hurried up to see something showing up. You saw the following
creatures: crab, starfish, sea urchin and clams. What should you and your cousins do if
you see these creatures?

Porifera (sponges)
The simplest of all invertebrates. These living sponges have pores all over their bodies.
These pores give the sponges their scientific name porifera, which means pore bearers.
Most sponges are sessile animals, it means they are stationary or stays only in one
place. Sponges live mostly in oceans.
Annelids (worms)
These invertebrates are either parasitic or free-living organisms. Earthworms and
leeches are common annelids while flatworms and roundworms are most commons
parasites in humans and other animals. They have segmented or simple symmetrical
body structure.
In Activity 1, you identified the animal which is different from the group. Those
animals identified were vertebrates and based on what you have learned so far, the
remaining animals were invertebrates or animals without backbone. In Activity 2, you
identified invertebrates based on the characteristics presented. Those characteristics
were very common among classes of invertebrates living in the bodies of water or land.
In Activity 3, you identified which group one animal belongs by looking at the
characteristics given. And in Activity 4, you were able to look for the right animal
according to the given characteristics.

F. Developing mastery Activity 1: Kahoot
(leads to formative Activity 2: Making Inventory
assessment Directions: List at least five of the common invertebrates that are commonly seen in
our community.
Possible answers:
1. Prawns
2. Snails
3. Ladybug
4. Spider

G. Making generalization Making a Diagram of the Group
and abstractions about Invertebrates are animals without backbone. It is mainly grouped into six (6)
the lesson classifications namely: Porifera, Cnidaria, Echinoderm, Mollusk, Arthropod and
Annelid.
Annelid Arthropod Cnidaria
(worms) (jointed legs) (stinging-cell)
-two body -jointed legs -tentacles
Invertebrates
openings -more than one with without
(animals stingingbackbone)
-simple body section cells
nervous system - exoskeleton -one body
-live in water
Mollusk Porifera
Echinoderm (soft bodied)
(spiny skinned) (sponges)
-soft-bodied with -no body
-bodies in 5 parts external or internal
-spikes or spines openings
skeleton -no muscles,
-external skeleton -have a foot or
made of lime nerves, or
tentacles organs
-most have shells -live in water
