 OBJECTIVES:
1. DISTINGUISH THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE
INVERTEBRATES.
2. IDENTIFY THE INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS ACCORDING
TO ITS CHARACTERISTICS.
3. SHOW PROPER CARE OF COMMON INVERTEBRATES
FOUND IN THE COMMUNITY.

see something showing up.

(SPONGES)

• The simplest of all invertebrates. These living

sponges have pores all over their bodies.
These pores give the sponges their scientific
name porifera, which means pore bearers.
Most sponges are sessile animals, it means
they are stationary or stays only in one place.
Sponges live mostly in oceans.
 MOLLUSK
SOFT-BODIED ANIMALS)

• Soft-bodied animals that may be

covered with hard shells. They also
have skeletons that can be found
internally or externally. This group
makes up the largest group of aquatic
animals, means animals that live in
fresh water or sea water. Most
common mollusks are; clams, snails,
oysters, squid and octopus.

(SPINY-SKINNED ANIMALS)

• These animals have spikes

or bumps in their bodies.
They live in the ocean and
most common examples of
these animals are starfishes,
sea urchins and sea
cucumbers.

Problem Statement:
You and your mom went to the wet market to
buy some seafoods for your birthday. Prawns is at
450/kilo, scallops shell at 150/kilo and crab
(medium size) at 350/kilo. If your mom will buy 5
kilos in each seafood mentioned, how much will
your mom pay in all?
