2. Yes
3. No
4. Yes
ACTIVITY 2 (Science: 30 points)
1. The world’s earthquakes are not randomly distributed over the Earth’s surface. They tend to
be concentrated in narrow zones.
2. Some are located near the edges of the continents, some are in mid-continents, while
others are in oceans.
3. Answers may vary. Possible answer: It is important to identify areas which are prone to
earthquakes so that necessary precautions could be done if ever you’re living in one of those
places.
4. Volcanoes are not randomly distributed. Majority of them are found along the edges of
some continents.
5. Majority are found along the edges of some continents.
6. Answers may vary. Possible answer: Earthquake epicenters and volcanoes are both
situated at the same location.
7. Mountain ranges are found in places where volcanoes and/or earthquake epicenters are
also located.
ACTIVITY 3 (Science: 12 points)

Triple Venn Diagram:

In individual circles, answers are the following: (in any

order, may be in bullet form, or number form, or sentence)

*Convergent plate boundary + where two plates

move toward each other + Cocos plate and Caribbean
plate

*Divergent plate boundary + where two plates

move away from each other + Cocos plate and Nazca
plate

*Transform fault boundary + where two plates slide

past each other + North American plate and Pacific plate

In area where the 3 circles intersect, answers are:

*types of plate boundaries + movements of plates

ACTIVITY 4 (English: 20 points)

It is all about the eruption of Mayon Volcano and the

situation of people in Albay province in the Bicol region

On January 13, 2018: Mayon heightened activities, generating

steam and ash.

On January 16, 2018: The provincial board declared Albay

under state of calamity, allowing local governments to use their
calamity funds for relief operation.

On March 29, 2018: the alert level status of the volcano was
downgraded to Level II, allowing families to return to their
homes.

Tino:
13. Martha: My family and I are preparing for the possible evacuation. It has been said that
Mayon Volcano’s seismic monitoring network recorded 3 rockfall related events over the
past 24-hours so it’s quite alarming already. So, we really need to put ourselves safe.
Tino:
14. Martha: Exactly, Tino. So, we must keep everybody safe. I have to go now. Please take
care of yourself and so with your family.

pangunahing paksa gayundin ang panlahat na
pagtanaw ukol dito)
Diskusyon (Makabuluhan ang bawat talata dahil sa
husay na pagpapaliwanag at pagtalakay tungkol sa
paksa)
Organisasyon ng Ideya (Lohikal at mahusay ang
pagkakasunod-sunod ng mga ideya)

ACTIVITY SHEET 1 (EsP: 15 points)

1. Answers may vary. Possible answer: Ang una at pangalawang larawan ay mga sakuna na
nagdudulot ng kapahamakan ng mga tao na naghihikayat naman ng ibang mga tao na
tumulong at maglingkod tulad ng nasa ikatlong larawan.
2. Answers may vary. Possible answer: Ang ikatlong larawan ay nagpapakita ng may kilos-
loob sa paglilingkod dahil makikita na sila ay nagbigay ng tulong sa mga taong
naapektuhan ng sakuna.
3. Answers may vary. Possible answers: Pagbibigay ng mga lumang damit + pagtulong sa
pamamahagi ng relief goods + pagtulong sa mga gawain ng walang hinihintay na kapalit

ANSWER KEY
ACTIVITY 1 (Science: 7 points)
1. Oceanic plate
2. Continental plate
3. Oceanic
4. Oceanic
5. Continental
6. Oceanic
7. Continental

ACTIVITY 2 (Science: 30 points)

Figure 1 - Convergent oceanic-continental plate boundary
Figure 2 - Convergent oceanic-oceanic plate boundary
Figure 3 - Convergent continental-continental plate boundary
Figure 4 - Divergent continental-continental plate boundary
Figure 5 - Transform Fault boundary
Analysis:
1. *The presence of the ocean in the figure gave me the clue that below it is the oceanic plate.
*The arrows in the figure indicate their movements which gave me the clue if they are
converging, diverging or sliding past each other
2. Plate A bends downward because Plate A is denser than Plate B.
3. The leading edge of Plate A will start to melt because the temperature beneath the crust
(mantle) is higher.
4. Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Trench, Mountain range
5. *Plate B undergoes subduction process or the sinking of plate towards the mantle.
*Earthquakes can happen since the two plates are grinding against each other.
*Trench/es will form.
*Volcanoes will form at the surface of Plate A.
6. Volcanoes
7. Tsunamis
8. Mountain ranges, Earthquakes
9. Answers may vary. Possible answer: Unlike the other two types of convergent boundaries,
subduction ceases for this particular type of convergence. No trench, no volcano, and
definitely no island arc are created during this process. Instead, what is created is a large
group of tall mountains called mountain range.
10. Rift valley, Earthquake, Mid-ocean ridge
11. Earthquake
ACTIVITY 3 (Science: 16 points)
Type of Plate Boundary Relative Motion of the Geologic Features/Events
Plates Present
Oceanic plate and
continental plate
moving towards each
other
Convergent continental- Mountain range,
continental plate boundary Earthquakes
Volcanoes, Earthquakes,
Trenches, Tsunamis
Two plates moving away Rift valley, Mid-ocean ridge,
from each other Earthquakes
Transform Fault boundary Two plates slide past each
other
