BRIGADA ESKWELA 2020

“In unity, there is HARMONY and STRENGTH.” As the quotation says, in everything
that we do, if there is unity, we will be strong enough to conquer all the challenges that we
will be facing. When the spirit of unity manifests in any organizational body, no goal shall
be deemed impossible. This is what the Gawad Kalinga High School proved as it continues
to implement the “Brigada Eskwela 2020.”

Even then, Brigada Eskwela in Gawad Kalinga High School has always been a
success through the collaborative efforts of its stakeholders, teachers and the
administration, who were able to establish a foundation of cooperation and unity, to obtain
its primary goal of providing a school environment that is conducive for the development,
safety, and enjoyment of the students. The school continues to aim for improvement and
progress through careful planning and innovative strategies in implementing this
momentous event in every onset of the school year.

What best helps in the preparation and planning for every Brigada Eskwela is
looking back on the best practices observed in the previous years. One of which includes
the school-based Brigada Eskwela done by each section from every grade level with the
help of the very supportive parents, LGU, and other outside sectors. Their creative works
and the outcomes reflected their unified intent to help make the school a pleasant haven for
learning and development.

Moreover, the consistent coordination with the stakeholders and different

organizations also placed as one of the best practices as it was very eminent based from the
number of participants every Brigada Eskwela. This only showed that there is well-
established coordination between the school and the community and a common ground of
mutual interaction.

Aside from those, the school also gave rewards and incentives to parents and other
stakeholders, and conducted raffles and bazaars as a way of thanksgiving and motivating
them to continually participate in the said activity. The school also piloted motorcade to
elicit the participation of the community.

Even though the implementation of the Brigada Eskwela 2020 is a bit different
because we are currently facing the pandemic, the school was still able to pull through and
carry out the event which had commenced in a Division-wide virtual kick-off through
facebook live. Community involvement is still evident through the effort of different
organizations namely, the Kabalikat Civicom-214 Chapter, Kabalikat Bikol 178, PBGI, Alpha
Kappa Rho, Tau Gamma Phi, and the barangay council while the school religiously
employed the mandate for minimum health standards and protocols. Donations such as
school bags, bondpapers, ink, hygiene kits, thermal scanners, cleaning materials and cash
were given by the benevolent donors who had extended their help amidst this crisis. The
spirit of volunteerism and love language of giving are indeed inevitable as it emanates from
the hearts of those who shared what they can provide, be it the smallest or biggest help,
which are all considered with equal importance.

Our current situation may seem very challenging, however, being able to face those
challenges, acknowledging the efforts of everyone who partook to meet this end, is a
genuine victory. With that, Gawad Kalinga High School would like to thank all the parents,
barangay council, and all other stakeholders who voluntarily shared their precious time
and effort to make the implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2020 a successful activity.
