Table Tennis UAAP 82

Processing Questions:

1. How do you find the game?

Watching table tennis competition is interesting. As I observed

the game between De La Salle University and Adamson University. It
is important for the both player to enhanced their Concentration
and adjust with the uncertain service of the opponent. In this game
they are both a great player but there is lack in their concentration,
they both missed the ball repeatedly.
Processing Questions:

2. Enumerate the skills that you observed ,and what do you feel
when you saw the skills being performed by the player?

I noticed that they usual skills is the basic stroke which is

forehand push, i noticed that they always use that skills that's why
they both missed the ball and the way of their service which has the
big effect in the consistency of the game. I felt interested because
they have both skills, that's why they know how defeat the each
other but they're both persevere.

3. If you will be given a chance to play table tennis, what is the

most essential skills that you would like to learn and
developed? Why?

If I will be given a chance to play table tennis. I would like to

learn the service skill because service will be serve as a good start of
the game. If I've been developed that skills the game would be
smooth and by having smooth game, I will able to notice what’s my
opponent’s weakness or strength. I would also like to learn the 2
types of pushes which is the forehand and backhand push, it is the
way you hit the ball. I consider it a great skill to defeat your
opponent.
Enumerate the strategies and techniques used in
the game table tennis and define each.

STRATEGIES
To be a good player and winner, you must know each and every aspect or
strategies to play the table tennis sport and these are as following:

Play on your opponent's weakness: Firstly you must try to search out the
weakness of your opponent. If you have seen your opponent play before, you
can explore his weakness easily. And if you don’t know about him, you can
discover it while playing (play the ball to different areas of the table, use
different strokes and spins, until you would find the weakness). Mostly your
opponent would be weaker on the backhand side than the forehand side or
maybe they can weaker against high returns, heavy backspin and heavy
topspin.

Play consistently and don't make unforced errors: To play consistently, firstly you
need practice, practice and practice. Try to play the ball consistently with all
your strokes; you can often win points by default, as your opponent will make
unforced errors.
STRATEGIES
Move your opponent around the table: Firstly try to play your shots from different
areas of the table and then thing about from where you are feeling
comfortable to play and your opponent feeling wrong to play.

Vary your strokes: You must vary your strokes time to time to beat your
opponent. If you are using the same stroke again and again, your opponent is
more likely to get used to them and easily able to anticipate them.

Vary your speed, spin and direction of your strokes: While playing you must use
different speed, spin and direction to make the game more interesting and
difficult for your opponent.

Play to your own strengths: You must try to play with your own style and
strength, that would be the most beneficial for you and be winner.

If you will play the table tennis sport using these tactics, you would be definitely
the winner. But remember you would learn all these skills by practice only.
TECHNIQUES
The four basic table tennis shots to be mastered:

The Forehand Drive (Counter)

The forehand drive (counter) is the basic stroke that most people learn first. The
forehand drive should be used when your opponent gives you a deep/high
ball. A forehand drive is the perfect way to stop your opponent from making an
aggressive, attacking stroke. Ideally, you should try to have your ball land as
close to your opponent’s baseline/sideline.

The Backhand Drive (Counter)

This stroke should be played in the same situation as the forehand drive but
when the ball is hit to your backhand side. A backhand drive should be used
when your opponent gives you a deep/high ball. The backhand drive is the
perfect way to stop your opponent from making an attacking stroke. As with
the forehand drive, you should try to have your ball land as close to your
opponent’s baseline/sideline.

The Forehand Push

This stroke is normally used for short balls, and its purpose is to stop your
opponent from making an attacking shot.Like the forehand drive, it’s important
to get your feet into the right position. The body position is similar. Your right foot
should be further back, and your feet should be shoulder length apart.
TECHNIQUES
The four basic table tennis shots to be mastered:

The Backhand Push

The stroke is normally used for short balls, and its purpose is to stop your
opponent from making an attacking shot.

Start by standing close to the end line, facing the table.

Your paddle should be open, 45%, and the backswing should short and
with your hand close to your chest. Use a short stroke, and move your arm
forward and down from the elbow. Make sure you “brush” the ball with a swift
move while the ball is at its peak (or slightly earlier).

You should finish with the paddle in front of you and down towards the table.
Your arm should still be bent at the elbow.
