ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT

Activity: INVESTIGATORY PROJECT

Date: NOVEMBER 24, 2017
Venue: GNHS COVERED COURT
Persons Involved: FACULTY, SCHOOL M&E, PARENTS, STUDENTS, BRGY OFFICIALS

INTRODUCTION
Doing an investigatory project considers as a major achievement of any students in Science.
Through scientific investigation, they learn how to apply the acquired knowledge, scientific
concepts, theories, principles and laws of nature.  They can use their higher-order process or
thinking skills in conducting a research.
SIPs are considered instruments where students could
contribute to the development of S&T in the country, as
reected in the content of these projects. These projects are
creations of scienti c knowledge, as well as the generation of
new knowledge; have socio-economic relevance to livelihood
development; and contribute to the advancement of S&T,
and progress in the community.
IPs are considered instruments where students could contribute to the development of S&T in
the country, as reflected in the content of these projects. These projects are creations of
scientific knowledge, as well as the generation of new knowledge; have socio-economic
relevance to livelihood development; and contribute to the advancement of S&T, and progress
in the community.
With this, GNHS conducted Investigatory Project held last November 24, 2017 participated by
parents and barangay officials.

Objectives:

 To create spaces for community involvement alongside the classroom;

 To use school facilities as community service centers for meeting educational, social,
health and cultural needs of the school and community;
 To provide the students an environment conducive for learning;

Observations:
An opening program was held at the school covered court attended by the school management,
faculty members, parents, students and barangay officials. After the short opening program,
students showcased their outputs and demonstrate the process in making their projects. The
teachers then started to review and revisit the K-12 learning materials for Science teaching. This
time, teachers reviewed the learner’s materials of the K to 12 program and eventually applying
the 7E model of teaching. This activity highlighted teachers to make revisions of the learning
materials that is attuned to inquiry-based approach to teaching science. Later in the afternoon,
the lecture on Investigatory Project (IP) came next but the salient process was not discussed
deeply considering constraint in time and thereby shifted to action planning instead.  In general,
the activity was successful and it has a positive impact to the students, parents and community.
It really created spaces for community involvement alongside the classroom. The activity paved
a way to develop students ‘interest and process skills (observing, comparing, classifying,
measuring, gathering and organizing, predicting, inferring, evaluating, synthesizing, and
interpreting data) in learning science. Science teachers however provide alternative means for
learners who cannot afford to buy materials for IP through improvised materials and
instruments.
