Our chosen concept is employee motivation and engagement and it plays a significant role

not only for the retention of our workers but also to offer best dining experience to our
customers. We will work on employee motivation and engagement through assigning right
job to the right person, communicating regularly regarding their problems and priorities,
understanding their needs and taking actions to fulfil those needs (intrinsic and extrinsic),
ensuring shared responsibilities and fair treatment and recognition for their efforts. We will
focus on developing the environment and policies that lead to increased motivation and
engagement among employees. Although it demands time, energy and cost to motivate my
team, it is very critical for the long term success of the business. We believe that motivated
staffs are the key to satisfied customers.[ CITATION Stu11 \l 3081 ]

As an employer, we are aware about the positive relationship between employee engagement
and motivation and their performance. The increased motivation and engagement among
staffs will ensure lower turnover, higher job satisfaction and higher level of customer’s
satisfaction. When staffs feel engaged and valued for their contribution, they tend to be more
creative which is important to develop competitive advantage. [ CITATION Lep10 \l 3081 ].
There are few things that can be considered:

Promote staff participation and competition:

We will make sure that all staffs are involved in their job whole heartedly. That can be seen
through their performance. We will identify the problems and work on the solutions together
with their involvement which will make them feel that they are valued. We will also
encourage competition among staffs in terms of sales and customer feedback. Thus, they will
take more ownership by strengthening the restaurant performance through theirs.

Fair treatment and shared responsibilities:

We will treat staffs fairly and make them realize that they are there to serve our customers not
us. We will work as a team towards a common goal and there will be shared responsibilities
among staffs which mean that everyone is responsible for everything.

Recognition and regular training:

There will be ongoing evaluations among staffs and they will be appreciated for their work
like giving titles of best employee of the month. There can be some financial rewards as well.
In addition, there will be trainings for new and existing staffs which play a vital role in
creating sense of purpose among staffs.

Regular communication and assigning new responsibilities:

We will make sure that we know and understand the problems of our staffs. It might be a
personal or professional. We will help them find a way out of their issues. Similarly, handing
new responsibilities can boost their confidence and motivate them to perform well and grow
accordingly.

All this will motivate staffs which enhances their productivity and creativity. It will
encourage our staffs to be innovative in terms of the services provided and also regarding
dish in the menu. When they are satisfied, they will involve in job wholly and work towards
the best interest of the restaurant.

However, there are some disadvantages
