Fuzzy set theory in power system

The increasing interests in this case have been in the application of fuzzy set theory to the power system
problems. This is a relatively new topic of research and therefore it is essential that the topic is put in a
position where it requires more attention and the basic principles in this case must also be understood
properly for the application of theory and the identification of problems by using suitable methods. This
particular paper will be presenting a survey of applications of fuzzy set theory to the power systems in
order to make sure that the specific power system problems can be solve easily without any hassle. In
this particular case, simple numerical examples will also be used in order to understand the practical
procedures of the problem formulation and solution (Peng, 2017). The examples in this case are related
with generator maintenance which is scheduled in nature, programming which is dynamic in nature and
power system.

Power system blackouts

The increasing rate of demand in electricity and the modern lifestyle have coupled up to cause problems
to the power engineers as there have been many blackouts throughout. In most of the cases blackouts
happen due to the fact that the stability of the power system grid gets faulty due to the excessive
generation of heat. Is there is constant demand of electricity throughout the year; it becomes very
difficult to maintain the stability of the power grid. The blackout reports in this case help to locate the
different issues which turn out to be the root cause for the blackouts however often it is seen that there
are different reasons which contribute to a power grid failing at different situations. In order to make
sure that such situations do not occur again extensive research must be done.

The asset management strategies are one of the most important components in the business of the
electrical power industry. In short, Helms, Loock and Bohnsack (2016) argued that the major
components in terms of the overall development are the environmental, socio-economical and
technological components, and these are affecting the management of assets in the electrical power
industry. Furthermore, the deregulations and restructuring of the entire electrical industry, the
distribution and transmission assets have grown to be of higher importance. These includes supporting
structures, equipments of sub-stations, protective devices, power transformers and lines of power
transmission. In this study, a detailed classification of managing assets along with different interesting
methods and theories are to be developed. Furthermore, Zhou, Yang and Shao (2016) argued that due
to the high amount of collected data, the data management systems are also to be discussed, especially
the various data mining techniques. These techniques are widely used in the various research works and
in various commercial industries as well. Furthermore, such research works are authorized by the TSO,
also known as the pan‐European Transmission System Operator, in the various different aspects of
management of assets.

This study highlights a detailed review and analysis of the existing research literatures on the topic of
Load Frequency Control issues in the power grids, and the configurations and details regarding the
strategies to control these issues have been identified. In fact, Wainstein and Bumpus (2016) argued
that the power system that is designed to be based on generation and distribution are much more
stable, and use various components such as PV system, wind diesel, FACTS device, SMES/BESS and
various other types of storage systems.

The development of the SEMS, also known as the Smart Energy Management System, have been quite
rapid, to the point that the SEMS systems have been designed in order to make the entire system
sustainable through the responses against demands. Furthermore, the changes in the loads and the
shavings of the peaks among the environment where the SEMS systems operate are quite visible, and
the technical way through which this entire setup is analysed is evaluated in this study, as well as the
various frameworks and other factors that enhance the prospect of such a system in the electrical
industry.

According to Sioshansi (2016), the supply of energy in the MNEC systems, which are also known as the
Integrated Multiple-Energy Carrier, are affected by the Natural gas and electricity systems in the energy
supply grid. These infrastructures have to handle several challenges in terms of the uncertain
environmental factors and their effects. For instance, the loads in both the electrical and thermal
aspects are comprised with the electricity that is priced at the real-time system. Furthermore, Stimmel
(2016) argued that the ARIMA models in the system are used in terms of enhancing the overall
parameters. Thus, this problem can be expressed as an MILP problem, which is also known as Mixed
Integer Linear Programming problems, which are essentially solved with the solver of CPLEX.
Furthermore, the sensitivity and other parameters for risk of such systems are also analysed accordingly.
