CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT REQUIREMENTS AND STATISTICS 1

Abstract

Certified Nursing Assistants work alongside registered nurses and physicians caring for patients.

They aid in activities such as feeding, bathing, and transporting residents. Nursing assistants

must be certified after completing a course to be on the nursing registry. To remain on the

nursing registry, one must work eight hours every two years. Becoming a certified nursing

assistant is a starting career for many of those who wish to work in the medical field as the

position shows one what working with others is like and also allows one to gain experience.

Many who begin as certified nursing assistants will continue their education and end up in

services such as Therapeutic, Diagnostic, Support Services, Health Informatics, and

Biotechnology Research.

Certified Nursing Assistants make approximately thirty-three thousand dollars annually. There

are 3,852 job openings each year and it is a rapidly growing job with a 4.4% expected increase.

The significance of certified nursing assistants is paramount. They work closely with patients

and can shape that patient’s experience with the healthcare they receive. Certified Nursing

Assistants act as a beginning point for many healthcare worker’s careers.
