GEOGRAPHY SBA TIPS:

FOLLOW the instructions given in the extra classes HELD earlier,

to complete the SECTIONS of your Geography SBA from the Cover Page to the Appendix.

For your Aim of Study make sure to state your Topic as a sentence beginning with the word “To …”

and the ‘Aim of Study” should include your 3 main Research Questions, basically what you hope to

achieve.

Then for the section called 'Location of Field Study' - for this section draw & label 2 maps on blank

papers. On the first map (Site Map) you should use a symbol to show your place of study on a map of

Jamaica or a cut-out of the Parish, where the particular place of study is located.

Also use a symbol to show the nearest major town in relation to the place you are studying.

Use the appropriate Map Sheet (either the St. Ann’s Bay-Ocho Rios Map or the Port Maria-Annotto Bay

Map) to produce your 2nd Map. The 2nd map should be a magnified map of the study area showing

your area/place of study in relation to main features such as the main road/highway, settlements &

other major places of interest or places of attraction in the area. Use the scale on the Sheet Map as a

guide for your own map scale. Remember that the Map Sheet you use should be stated in the

Bibliography.

Make sure that the maps have a Title, Border, Compass direction, Scale & Key.

For the METHOD OF INVESTIGATION, make sure to include an Observation Schedule.

NEXT, work on the section called 'Presentation/Analysis & Discussion of Data'.

In this Section use at least 3 different types of diagrams to show the answers to your 3 RESEARCH

QUESTIONS.

N.Duncan
Give each of these diagrams and/or pictures a brief title or heading & number them.

After presenting the diagram for the first RESEARCH QUESTION you need to discuss it.

So to do this, you need to research what the experts say is the answer to

the RESEARCH QUESTION. Then stating the source of that information (expert quotation), use the

quotation from an expert to discuss the answer to the RESEARCH QUESTION in a

paragraph. Once you have written the quotation, then discuss the respondents/interviewees'

answers to the same RESEARCH QUESTION, before giving your own analysis based on your own

observation (using data from the Observation Worksheet) on it.

Then, move onto discuss the next RESEARCH QUESTION in the second paragraph,

in the same way you did for the first RESEARCH QUESTION, as described above.

Do same for ALL your research questions.

Also, discuss the answers to any other questions on the Questionnaires or the Observation Worksheet

or based on your interview with resource personnel, that are strongly related to your main research

questions/topic.

N.Duncan
The last question to be discussed should be about Solutions (ways to preserve the River or

address/reduce the challenges the farmers face or to address/reduce deforestation or to

preserve/protect the coast, in the same way I've mentioned above in this section of the Project.

Finally, your CONCLUSION section should be a few paragraphs (2 or 3) to summarize the main points

of your project - especially focusing on summarizing the answers to your 3 RESEARCH QUESTIONS.

Do NOT introduce any new points here in the Conclusion that are not already in your project.

Move ahead with this work SERIOUSLY so that that information can be quickly added into this Project

with ALL the other parts that you would have already completed on it.

This work MUST BE completed by the deadline given for your SBA Project submission.

No excuses will be accepted. FOLLOW ALL my instructions EXACTLY. Do ALL the corrections highlighted

here. Do your Best.
