tone for an upbeat opening to the service. Follow along with provided slides in
ProPresenter Show.

In our Bibles it says on the fifth day God created the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea.
Then God said, "Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds
of every kind." So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and
swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And
God saw that it was good. Then God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply. Let the
fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth." And evening passed and morning
came, marking the fifth day. Genesis 1:20-23. God created all these animals for us to take care
of, that’s a lot of responsibility!

Let’s check out today’s Go Answer. Now remember, this is the answer to the question:

“What did you learn in Go Kids today?”

Go Answer: “God gives us Responsibilities”

This week we are focusing on DAY FIVE when God created the birds and the
fish.

RULE: P.I.L.O.T. (1min)

Go Kids desires to build into Go Port children a sense of duty and respect. Our desire is to
see each child grow into a PILOT.

Go Kids wants to know … “Are you being a P.I.L.O.T.?”

P = Prepared
I = Involved
L = Loving
O = Open to God
T = Team Player

KINGDOM BUILDERS (BGMC GIVING) (2mins)

Even at this age, we view tithe and offering as a great teaching moment for children. Use
this time to explain to children what it means to tithe, give, and be generous. Remind kids
that giving is another act of worship to God. All money collected is given to BGMC (Boys
and Girls Missionary Challenge) through Kingdom Builders. Remind kids of current
missions projects and giving challenges.

IN-FLIGHT NEWS (1min)

Announce any upcoming and current news in Go Kids — weekend services, midweek
updates, KB giving campaign reminders, SOAP reminder, etc.

BIBLE LESSON (7mins)

The Bible Lesson is the weekly teaching that illustrates the lesson and shows children how
God’s Word plays into their daily lives.

SUPPLIES NEEDED (provided by Central): 19 Fake $1 bills

Select three children to play the servants, and select two helpers or older kids to “pay”
the hard working and investing “servants”(the first and second) while the Lead
Presenter plays the master. Read this story aloud while having the kids act it out with
you, prepare nineteen one dollar bills. Give five one dollar bills to the first “servant,”
two to the second “servant,” and the last “servant” one dollar. Give five bills to the
helper or older kid who helps the first “servant” make money. Do the same for the
second servant.
(Optional: Have a small shovel and spade for the last servant to “bury” their one bill.)

Summarize or Read Matthew 25:15-28 (Parable of the Talents)

Can you believe how much money the first servant and the second servant just made?!
This story is what we call a parable, this is a story with a point, told to us so that we may
learn from it, isn’t Jesus so cool! In this parable the master gives each servant of his a
certain amount of money that each one is responsible for. The Bible says he gave each one
an amount equal to that he believed he can trust them with. The first servant who was
trusted with a lot was very responsible and made twice as much as he started off with! The
second servant was also very responsible and doubled his money as well! Though the last
servant was not responsible with what the master gave to him and he was not praised like
the one who were obedient and responsible to what they were given.
God has given us responsibilities over a lot of things in this world. We are in charge of
taking care of the earth and animals. God however did not just want to take care of the
animals but each other, we can take care of each other by simply play nice, inviting others
to have fun at church, and even listening to our parents. And as we saw in the parable God
rewards obedience to those who take their responsibilities to heart and remain faithful to
it.

GO VERSE (2mins)
The Go Verse is the Scripture that corresponds to the theme of our series for the children to
commit to memory over the course of the series.

“Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator
and become like Him.” Colossians 3:10, NLT

GO VERSE GAME / ACTIVITY / UNSCRAMBLE (4mins)

The Go Verse is the Scripture that corresponds to the theme of our series for the children to
commit to memory over the course of the series.

Select a quick, fun crowd game to play or select a few contestants to play at the front. Game/
activity should help teach the Go Verse. This could be an unscramble game or a fun repeat-
after-me segment. Get creative!

GAME = CAMPUS CHOICE

OBJECT LESSON (5mins)
The object lesson is intended as a supplemental and physical visual illustration to the Bible
lesson and Go Answer.

SUPPLIES NEEDED (provided by Campus): 3 Pieces of fruit all at different stages of

ripening. Plan ahead of time! One fresh, one bruised, one rotten.

Select three children to help you act this out. You are the master gardener, and the
children are your helpers. Have all the children pretend to plant a seed that you gave
them. Have the first and second child “water” their seed, while explaining the third child
was saying they were to cool to water their plant. Give the third child the basket of dead/
rotten fruit to show what happens when we ditch our responsibilities. Repeat three times
that each day that goes by, the children water their plants. After the third time the second
child stops being responsible and no longer wants to water their plant. Give the second
child the bruised and ugly looking fruit to show they were responsible but didn’t stick it
out. The first child keeps watering their plant and eventually gets a the fresh, delicious
fruit.

This is all true with God! God gives us all kinds of responsibilities, even as simple as
watering a plant. When we listen and are obedient to God he can reward us, like the
gardener giving them fruit. The gardener gave his helpers responsibilities just like God
gives us. We should keep the responsibilities God gives us, like caring for the fish of the
sea and birds of the air, and all of our relationships. When we are responsible and
obedient to God’s instructions he will give us blessings and more responsibilities.

WRAP UP (4mins)
Expound and wrap up the key truths presented today.

God created the birds and fish for us to take care of.

Keeping the responsibilities God has given us pleases Him and will grant us favor.

God has entrusted us to take care of the people in our lives.

WORSHIP / PRAYER TIME (5mins)

This is your opportunity to invite the children to respond to what was just taught. Before
service begins, make sure you’re prayed up and allow God to lead you during this time of
response. A media loop is provided to play while ministering, creating a prayerful atmosphere.

WORSHIP SONG:

CONCLUDE SERVICE
GO GROUPS (18mins)
The following Go Group breakdown is also found in the Go Group Flight Plan provided for all
Go Group Leaders.

PLAY
This is the alliteration name game. In this game, have each child take the first letter of their
name, a country with starting with the same letter, and one kind of food also starting with that
same letter. For example, “My name is John; I’m going to Jamaica, while eating jellybeans!”
Have each child do this; allow them to be as silly as they want.

INSPECTION Have each child complete the Activity Sheet for this week’s lesson.

LIFE APPLICATION
Ask these questions and use them as a tool for deeper discussion.

• In the parable that we read, the master gave each servant some responsibilities. What are
some responsibilities you have?
These can be various responsibilities that the kids do at home, at school, or even here
at church. Like volunteering at church, or helping out in classes at school, or chores at
home.
• What happens when we keep the responsibilities that God has given us?
If we are faithful to God and the responsibilities he has given us, he will provide us with
more and better opportunities to be more responsible.
• What happens if we aren’t responsible at all?
If we don’t take our responsibilities to heart we can never accomplish anything, and we
would also miss out on a lot of different opportunities that God wants us to
experience.
