We started our venture in 2020, as it was a disastrous year for the whole world, we still kept our foot into it with
no hope and expectations.

As the famous quote states “Change is the only constant”, we hoped for the pandemic to end down the line. As
technology is the future with the current world, we thought that’s when our brand would play a major role at wedding
events, since every phenomenon starting from finding the right vendors would be just in the tip of their fingers.

I’m Ajitha Anandhan, and my husband is

Dilshad Devadasan and we’ve been married
for 9 years now.

How it all started?

So I was working in Sri Lanka in the media field
Our Love Story
whereas, he was working for the same field as an RJ
for an FM in Dubai. Through a mutual friend, I was
approached to work on an online radio where I first
spoke to my better half through a Skype call.
Later, he became a friend of mine on Facebook, and
we would text for long hours and I was just getting to
know him as a friend.

I would like to marry you Aji!

On 23rd of December 2011, while we were texting, he
just dropped the bomb that he would like to marry
me. I was simply shocked and furious at the same
time. The only question I asked him was, what does
he know about me? And he said, “I don’t know about
that, but it’ll be nice to be married to you”. Which for
some reason triggered a wrong wire in me and I
just told him off.
I didn’t try to communicate with him for the next 24
hours. However, something within me kept me
worrying whether what I did could make me loose a
good person like him. And I couldn’t hold it anymore.
Anyway, it was Christmas Eve, and I wanted to wish
him.
He didn’t expect my call, however, he answered
stating “tell me, is it to wish me?”. And with butterflies
in my stomach and a small gleam in my face, I
responded that “not just to wish but also to say yes
to you”. I felt that he was elated cause it was
Christmas Eve and my “Yes”. Along with the positive
response, I also kept a condition that let’s just be
lovers and get to know each other for about a year
first. Thereafter, if we get along well we could think
about the big picture if not we could part our ways.
He seemed skeptical yet he said it was
okay.
Love Phase
We had long conversations about anything
and everything for the next 2 months, we
barely saw each other through skype calls
since both of us were committed to our
work.
Our love phase lasted only for about 3 months and
then we decided we were made for each other.
Therefore, we didn’t wait any longer to get hitched.
My Expectations on the Wedding
Even though I was a Hindu, I always dreamt of a
church wedding. So, when I knew he was a
Christian I was internally feeling euphoric that
my long-term wish is going to be real. I
converted myself into a Christian girl in order to
be a part of my man’s life, therefore, everything
about that part of my wedding was novel to
me. I had to learn everything. We didn’t have a
lot of expectations on the wedding except for
the fact that we should have a budgeted
wedding. That was our only priority.
Our First Meetup
Just a month before our wedding is when he
reached Sri Lanka. We planned to see each
other for the first time on 7th of May 2012. As
usual, before our meet up I kept a condition
that if we do not like the way we look then we
can feel free to part our ways. Which put us in a
lot of pressure, yet I felt it was necessary to
have an option as such since we shouldn’t
shatter each other’s expectations.
We decided to meet each other in the famous
lover’s spot a decade ago which is “Majestic
City”. I entered from the front entrance he came
through the back entrance and as we went
looking for each other with a lot of flipping
inside our hearts. I could literally feel my heart
in my mouth with the excitement and the
condition I kept.
While looking for each other we ended up at
the food court where we saw each other. He
said “What you say?”, with a blush I stated, “I
think you should say”. And he responded that
“I’m okay, if you’re okay we could talk further”,
and I retaliated that “I guess I don’t have a
reason to say no”.

Wedding Preparations
Along with that, we started finishing off all the
preparations. Since, I started preparing for the
wedding even before I met him, about a quarter of
the wedding arrangements were completed. Just
the church bookings and decorations were pending
since I was an amateur to those however, the
specialty when it comes to our location is that we
got married at a Korean Church. Which made our
big day extra special I suppose.

Makeup Artist: What kind of a beautician you had
in your mind?
As per my view, any girl would expect herself to
look ravishing while not feeling alienated. Which I
wished for myself as well. Hence, I chose the artist
who worked with me in my channel. And it was
extremely easy for me to coordinate since he was
also a dear friend. I always wanted a Cindrella type
of wedding gown, which he specifically designed for
me along with the bride’s maids and the flower girls
in the theme of pink and purple.
According to you what should be your first
priority, Photography or Food?
She: I think I would say it’s food. Their feedback on
how the food was can always make us
feel content as well therefore, making the guests
happy with the food would be my first
priority. Thereafter, it would be photography.
Pictures capture the moment which cannot
be relived again so I’d say they require to be at the
utmost important section as well.

If you are given a chance to get married
again to the same person, what would you
do differently?
She: It would definitely be a “Pre shoots”, I see
a lot of couples fuss a lot about it. Which
makes me feel envious of them (Laughs). And
the second thing would be the Poses. Now
that social media has created a lot of
awareness regarding weddings and the
expectation on
each factor is considered highly. Thus, I think I
would do a better job with the poses since, I
was petrified last time eventually which made
the photographer and myself tired (Laughs).
What is the hardest thing about a wedding?
She: It’s the location. Fixing a location
according to our needs during a wedding
season is the toughest call to make. Currently,
it’s not that hard due to the pandemic
situation. Nevertheless, that would be the
hardest task to perform.
The second factor would be the decorations.
The current generation expects a lot of
precision and has a lot of innovative ideas,
therefore, getting the perfect vendor who could
cater to the needs as per our wish can be a
taxing task.
Any Few Words on Atchadhai?
I think Atchadhai is a great directory for all the
“to be couples” to find everything just in one
platform. I’d say this is a great initiative. Just
make sure to keep it going.
Any tips of new developmental areas you
would want us to reconsider?
Foreign countries have a system for gifting the
couple what they require. Where, if the
the couple makes a list of the things they need
as gifts and submits it to the event planners
they could pass the message to the guests,
which would be easier and satisfying for both
the couple and the guests.
