Which is to say, the Giovani blood itself possesses a
connection to the lands of the dead. One expression of
this connection was the young medium Benetta, a girl
capable of contacting the most terrible of spirits and
drawing them into her body.
By the age of nine Benetta had provoked the attention
of the clan, with one vampire in particular taking her
under his wing. His name was Todero and though he
was embraced as an elder gentleman, he was had not
been a member of the clan for long. He began working
with the girl to improve and control her powers,
pushing her to practice her craft and understand her
limits. Unfortunately she found her limits too soon,
when at the age of eleven a Specter who controlled her
body killed her.
Caring deeply for the girl and not wanting to lose
such a powerful medium, Todero embraced Benetta.
The family was not pleased by this turn of events.
Cainite society frowns upon childhood embraces and
the Giovani are desperate to keep up respectability for
their young bloodline. Todero was ostracized, taking
Benetta with him on a ship to Athens where he hoped
to school her in the classics. Such was not to be, as the
ship that carried them was attacked by pirates. Todero
did not survive.
Benetta did survive, having used her powers to destroy
the invading forces. She now finds herself in a foreign
city with no mentor. The girl seeks Dionysius, an
Athenian Cappadocian said to be kind.
