1.0 GENERAL

The lighting systems shall be as described within this specification in conjunction with the General
Specification and drawings.

All lighting, fixtures with control gear and lamps required for the indoor area (buildings and
product area), outdoor lighting fixtures required lighting posts along with fixture fixing brackets
and fixing accessories shall be supplied and installed by the Contractor. The foundations for the
flood light poles will be arranged by contractor.
The Contractor shall co-ordinate with the Civil & Building Contractor while carrying out the work of
outdoor lighting system
The Contractor shall supply and install all the cables, wires and electrical accessories such as
cable trays and conduits, cable trunks, switches, sockets, isolators Distribution boards (Main &
Sub) etc. for the complete lighting and small power installation system of the entire facility.
The lighting system shall be such that all areas of the facility building and external areas are
adequately illuminated.
The system shall be designed to obtain the following minimum illuminance levels, and shall
generally be in accordance with approved International Standards.

The Bill of quantities for light fittings, plug points and telephone outlets and emergency fittings
shall be furnished. The Contractor shall carryout the complete lighting design and submit lighting
layout drawings with calculations.
All switched sockets shall be provided with plug tops.

2.0 LIGHTING

The Contractor smns according to Bhall price the various items based on the types of luminaires
given in the schedules for the tender purposes. Samples shall be submitted for e
all luminaires for approval.
All luminaires in areas of false ceilings are to be supplied via a plug and socket of 3 Amps (min)
with a flexible lead to the luminaries.
All lighting fittings shall be mounted/installed on supports or concrete foundations in an approved
manner. All chasing in walls-for conduiting, laying of conduits in RC floor/roof slab required for
lighting and small power installation works shall be done by the Contractor.
Lighting of control room instrument boards-shall be designed to illuminate vertical board mounted
equipments with art glass.

The lighting DB's in general shall have circuit breakers rated 16 amperes for branch circuit
protection. Circuit loading shall not exceed 70%.
For lighting fixtures located in hazardous area shall be explosion proof type and temperature
group shall be T4.
Fixtures and accessories shall be corrosion resistant and withstand the corrosive and high
humidity atmosphere.
All bolts, machine screws, spring washers, washers, nuts and exposed accessories shall be
made of corrosion resistant materials.
Columns for street and flood lighting shall be Sling Down octagonal or round steel coluS
Standard, columns shall be hot dip galvanised to 85 microns. When the columns have a direct
buried part, a cable entry of 0.5'in below grade shall be provided.
All galvanised street light poles and flood light poles shall be further prepared and overcoated as
follows.

- Removal of contaminates by water or steam jetting.


- Application of etching primer.
- Finish coat by application of aliphatic polyurethane 100 microns dft light grey colour
RAL 7035.

Lighting cabling including supply and installation of cable tray shall be in the scope of the
Contractor. Lighting cables shall be copper conductor, XLPE insulated, PVC outersheathed
complying to IEC 502 and 332 - 1, and BS 5467 and 6360.

The type of lighting wiring inside office building and substation shall be of concealed type in PVC
conduits. Where required G.I conduits shall be provided in hazardous areas as per IEC 79, BS
5345 and wiring regulations, and to the approval of local authorities and Engineer.

All light fittings with lamps and control gears shall be supplied and installed by the Contractor
including wiring, conduiting, light switches 1 switch boxes, Junction / pull boxes… etc.

The Contractor shall submit detailed lighting layout for all areas, the type and quantity of light
fitting shall be min. as per this schedule, along with calculations.
The emergency light fittings of the type as indicated in the legend of this schedule shall be
mounted on side walls and / or columns in the product area. In all other areas they shall be
mounted on side walls / on the ceiling / roof.

2.1 Luminaires

In general , the distribution and type of luminaries in various areas shall be as given below:
However this is only for guidelines. Contractor to select best suitable fittings as per Lighting
calculation-

Supply of light fittings with lamps, control gear and associated accessories meeting the
specification, in the location as per the drawings.

3.0 SMALL POWER

The small power system shall be as per the schedule for Lighting vide Item1.8.2.1 above. The
Contractor shall co-ordinate with the Civil and Building Contractor for the concealed conducting in
concrete/block work and for making penetrations/cuttings in cladding/false ceiling.
Socket outlets shall be of the switched type unless otherwise stated. Light switches where
required shall be of the grid switch type with each switch being 'x' rated at 20 amps AC inductive.
When required or applicable, switch
service legend shall be engraved upon the switchplate or faceplate of the unit.
All switches shall be in accordance with BS 3676. Generally all wiring
accessories shall be of the recessed type and conduits, cable trunking etc.
concealed in the ceiling void or embedded in the structure.
Embedded, flush floor trunking shall be installed where indicated on the drawing. Such trunking
shall be heavy duty galvanised steel modular type allowing interchanging of cover plates/lids
with access boxes and flexibility for future modification. The design shall allow flush mounting of
the trunking in the floor screed and installation of carpets or floor tiles on top to provide a
uniform floor finish. Floor access boxes shall be provided with power socket outlets as
indicated. Access boxes shall also be provided where necessary to assist in the installation of
the cables such that no more than the equivalent of one 90° bend exists between access boxes.
All accessories such as junction/draw boxes, vertical to horizontal transitions, etc. shall also be
compatible with the trunking. The entire trunking system with the accessories shall be from one
manufacturer e.g. Dains/Egatube/MK or equivalent.
Access boxes shall be of a standard design such that service outlets may be installed in access
boxes at a later date and shall be designed to suit the floor screed depth with adjustable frame to
allow for irregularities in screed and floor finish.

4.0 TELEPHONE

The Telephone device is to be in all respects to the approval of local telecom authority. The
Contractor is responsible for ensuring this compliance is fulfilled.

It shall consist of junction boxes, trunking, tray, conduits and outlets for all internal works and an
external network of underground duets, manholes, drawpits, etc. shall be under this contract.
Supply and installation all material, sockets, cover plates etc. and all wiring shall be included in
this contract.
The outlet plates shall be of a quality and finish matching the rest of the electrical accessories in
the respective areas.

5.0 DATA COMMUNICATION.

Contractor shall supply and install plug sockets for computers including all necessary conduits,
draw wires, junction boxes, etc. All required concealed ducting / conduiting system shall be
supplied and installed by the Contractor as per the requirement and drawings and to the
approval of the Engineer.

6.0 LOCAL PUSH BUTTON CONTROL STATIONS

The local push button control stations shall be of flame proof, weather proof, cast aluminium with
corrosion resistant cover screws, minimum IP 65 degree of protection and provided with suitable
fixing / mounting arrangement. All equipments shall be delivered with Certification of Conformity
according to CENELEC / BASEEFA. The contact rating for switch and push buttons shall be at
least for AC - 415V - 4A and DC - 24V - 4A. All push buttons shall be 2 Nos. + 2 NC spare
contacts.
Pump local push-button station shall be with Auto-OFF-manual selector switch, START-STOP
push-button.

7.0 JUNCTION BOXES

Junction boxes for hazardous areas shall be certified E Exd II B T4 by BASEEFA / CENELEC.
Junction boxes shall be protected according to IEC Class IP 65.
In general Material of flame proof junction boxes shall be of cast aluminium.
For all junction boxes used in hazardous area, a "Certificate of Conformity" according to
BASEEFA / CENELEC shall be delivered.
