Events in 2020: East West Economics Research Conclave
Events in 2020: East West Economics Research Conclave
15 February, 2020. A day that bears the harmony of unity and wholeness of the Department of
Economics. The annual tour of 2020 for our department was held on that day. It was organized
by East West University Economics Club. Students from first semester to twelfth semester and
our honorable teachers from Economics department attended the tour. The destination for the
tour was Neel Komol Resort at Gazipur.
We started at 8:30 am in the morning for our destination. Then we reached the place at 11:30
am in the morning. Everyone got off their buses and went to their respective rooms to freshen
up as they were all tired from the long journey. There were arrangements for three time meals-
breakfast, lunch and evening snacks. After freshening up people came to an open space dining
hall where breakfast was being served. We all had our breakfast together.
The resort had two open grounds for outdoor sports. Students and teachers together were
playing cricket in one ground and in the other one a football match was going on. The other
people who were not taking part in any of the sports were roaming around the place. Some
were rowing boats as there was a beautiful lake on one side of the resort area. There was also a
swimming pool, thus a lot of students were enjoying a good time in the pool.
Around 2:30 pm in the noon everyone gathered in the dining hall for lunch. After lunch there
were a few events arranged by the club which made the tour more exciting and interesting. The
events were divided into three sections. First one was a ball passing game for boys. Then there
was a far more interesting game for girls. They had to kick a football and goal. The girl with
highest goals won the prize.
After the game session the club had arranged an amazing cultural program. Students from all
semester took part in the program. The items exhibited in the program were recitation,
dancing, stand-up comedy and there was also a concert conducted by a university band. The
program lasted until 7:00 pm in the evening. Then we started towards Dhaka approximately at
7:30 pm. Again after a long but beautiful and thrilling journey we reached Dhaka around 11:00
pm.
Also within the annual tour, field trip for course Eco-480,Eco-485,Eco-585 was included. So not
only that it was an enjoyable trip for everyone, it was also educationally helpful for some of the
students.
This tour ended with people having smile in their faces and bearing amazing memories in their
heart. It was indeed an incredible day and experience for both students and teachers of the
Department of Economics. We hope that we can enjoy more events like this in the future and
make our bond stronger with time.

Recruitment 20 - Curving Yourself
Date: 4th March 2020
We all know that the whole country is facing the outbreak of the daunting Covid-19. The
Government has announced lockdown until the situation improves. The poor and vulnerable
people in the country are bearing the brunt of this crisis. They are the ones disproportionately
exposed to the virus either because they are at the frontline of providing the essential services
or because they have to go out to feed their families. They need our support today before the
crisis worsens in their situations.
In response to this crisis, the Department of Economics has taken an initiative. We all are
concerned that our department organizes Iftar Mahfil every year. Instead of arranging this
traditional event, as a convenor, EWUEconClub comes with a collective effort to help the needy
people. The first action is to launch an emergency fund to respond to the immediate needs of
vulnerable poor people.
In order to be a part of this fund-raising program, you can buy tickets of ‘Iftar Mahfil’ each
worth of 100tk only. Present and Ex-Students can register their names through bKash payment.
It is redundant to mention that you can contribute more than the mentioned amount as it is an
initiative to help poor people. This will be your small contribution to fight against this epidemic.
The donation will be delivered to the fund of other charity like “Save The Human from EWU” or
“বিদ্যানন্দ – Bidyanondo” etc in the name of our respective Department.
