The disc uses a novel two-piece hub design which reduces unsprung
rotational weight, this is said to have a profound impact on vehicle
driving dynamics. Ideal for regular track-goers and cars in a high state of
tune, the discs replace the original ‘pin-drive’ items without modification
to the vehicle.
The advantage here is that unlike the stock discs which do not float,
EBC’s replacement does, allowing the outer cast-iron friction ring to
expand freely with temperature, eliminating warping. Grooved to allow
the pad to vent without cracking, the discs boast race-derived G3500
grade high-carbon cast-iron friction rings and feature bells machined
from aerospace-grade aluminium. The cast-iron friction rings feature
48-curved vanes significantly improving the ability to radiate heat,
increasing endurance and prolonging the onset of fade.

Just to be pedantic, the M2 and the subsequent M2 Competition do not have adjustable damping, both
the M2 and the subsequent M2 Competition have a seven-speed DCT transmission, not an eight-speed DCT

the piece referring the M2 as the spiritual successor to the E46 M3.
Just a personal observation, when I have driven the M2 Competition it is almost indistinguishable in its
acceleration from my DCT M2, the power from the two engines is delivered in a different way to make the
higher output of the M2 Competition not so significant.

The ABS system is reliable enough and parts
are cheap. On cars with the ASC system,
the ABS module (896/897 unit) under the
battery tray can fail but they are common and
