Requirements
The Plane was built and tested with X-Plane 10.51. Compatibility with earlier or later versions of X-Plane cannot be guaranteed.
General Description
The L-29 is a military trainer aircraft. It was manufactured by Aero Vodochody. It made its first flight in 1959 and was produced from 1963 to 1974. Ca. 3500
aircraft were built. The aircraft was used mainly in the air forces of the Warsaw Pact. Today the plane is still used by civilian operators for show and race
purposes.
There are four versions of the plane. You can select them via “Open aircraft” from the menu and afterwards selecting the 29 or 29R file in the folder.
The package contains ten liveries, equal for the four versions. You can switch them (also directly in flight) by using the following menu option in X-Plane:
Ceiling 10,9 km/ 36100 ft Not tested, > 45000 ft 13,4 km/ 43900 ft

1 Mechanical gear indication Also available on wings, can be seen → gear is down
2 G-meter Shows current g-force
When using the standard version of the plane, you will now get indications in kilometers per hour
8 Altimeter 3 needles showing your barometric altitude. You can set the barometric pressure by using the lower
left knob. There is a specific click zone in the center of the knob to set it to the standard pressure.
When using the standard-version of the plane, you will now get indications in meters
9 Radar altimeter Shows your height above ground in meters
10 Artificial Horizon Pitch displayed on blue/ brown, Bank displayed by airplane symbol, slip indicator included
- there are also click zones on the top left/ right of the stick to adjust the aileron trim (which is not that
useful with a standard/ no external load but can be done. In reality this can be done on the ground
only)
You could now load different payloads to the left/ right side and may then use the aileron trim
13 Bank and slip indicator This is no turn and slip indicator, it shows bank and slip
14 NDB Indicator, Gyro compass, Heading Shows the bearing to the NDB, the aircraft heading and a heading reference can be set with button 15

15 Heading reference button Used to set a heading reference for 14, you can use this e.g. for aligning with the runway direction or
headings that you want to follow during cruise
16 Vertical speed indicator Shows the vertical speed in meters per second

3 Drop fuel tanks here
If you click a joystick button while on the following screen, the number of the button will be displayed and you can choose any action that you want to
assign to this button:
You could e.g. assign the forward and backward movement within the cockpit:
In tab “Keys” you can search for the command and the key that is assigned to it:
The layout in the rear cockpit is different but functionality and instrumentation are similar to the front cockpit.
There is a new functionality in X-Plane (10.10) now that allows you to store certain views. You press CTRL + a numpad number key and afterwards you can
jump back to this position again by pressing the number key on the numpad.
– you go to Ordnance
– Click on one of the weapon stations (Button “Ready..” in the picture above)
– select a load from your L-29/ weapons folder
Landing Go-around
– landing light on – set max. throttle
– taxi light on – speedbrakes in
– speed below 150 kt – as soon as climb established, flaps 15°
– landing gear down – gear up
– reduce to 140 kt – engine instruments check
– set flaps to 30° – C+W panel check
– check flap and gear indications – after reaching safety altitude, flaps up
– reduce speed to ca. 100 kt
– throttle as required (not below 56% in standard version, to be
prepared for go-around)
Emergencies
X-Plane allows you to simulate a large number of failures randomly or by selecting e.g. an altitude where a certain system should fail. You can find this
failure setup under:
Designed by Artem Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich (MiG). First flight in 1947.
Designed as one of the first fighter planes with swept wings and a jet engine.
Ca. 18000 planes have been built and have been used mainly in countries
of the Warsaw Pact. Some MiG-15 are still flying today.
