I am Arindam Baishya. I am from Assam. I did my graduation in Mechanical Engineering, from

Assam engineering college and completed that in 2018. Post that I got placed in Cummins India
as an Assistant Manager and have an experience of 1.5 years in Supply Chain in a ReCon Plant.
Was posted in Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh inside a SEZ zone. I was looking after Order
Management and part of Demand planning as well, with a team of 3 members. I was assigned to
ensure 3 of the plants key KPIs i.e. On Time Delivery, On Time In full, Past dues and
Backorders meets their monthly targets. I took two projects in that duration, one of PFEP and
another AScNT project to improve ‘On time delivery’. In free time I like playing football and
competed in various schools and college competitions.

My achievement I would mention as being able to stay motivated and giving my best each day in
Indore. Travelling each day to a plant which is 44 kms from my apartment and sleeping 4-5
hours in weekdays. Completing my sleep in the weekends. Also not slacking in work and trying
to give the maximum output. Scored 4/4 in annual Operation Excellence Process audit for 3
processes- Customer Requirement, Demand Control, and Order Management. I believe these 16
months of my work tenure changed me in many ways. I was the youngest in the plant. Adapting
with situation is one of my strength, so making relationships with people twice my age came
naturally to me. Made me calm, understanding and reduced my anxiety to a considerable level.
Understood to make decisions analytically based on various factors rather than letting emotions
take charge of your decisions. It made me take charge of my own life. Made me realize who I am
as a person, and to take responsibility of my failure as well.

For me I believe after having 16 months of work experience with Cummins India and
understanding the work culture, I was intrigued by the challenges and opportunities the corporate
world had to offer. The opportunities and skills that I will be able to achieve at this point, I don’t
want to miss that out. The present skills set won’t be enough to purse the role that I want. And
MBA will boost the growth towards it. IIM Vishakhapatnam being at the capital of Andhra
Pradesh sits at a strategic position towards the growth of the state. It will always be under the
purview of the state government and is bound to receive more opportunities in near future. My
work experience is in the Operations domain and I want to purse my specialization in the same.
There are few colleges who provide the best pedagogy and opportunities in the field of
operations and IIM Vishakhapatnam is one of them. Surrounded by industry it will provide
ample opportunities to learn and engage themselves with internships.

Pursuing at MBA would provide me with a wholesome view and knowledge on management and
that’s where I am aspiring to carry forward in future and build my career around. Also the peer
learning and the interaction with people from diverse fields is something that really intrigues me
to look forward in an MBA. In long term career I see myself being involved in strategic decision
making position, directly getting involved in scaling up the industry and increasing profits.
Taking responsibilities of failure or growth of the whole industry and helping others to bring out
the best in them and achieve their desired goals.
