a puppy.
Finding the right puppy for you is a big step! Make sure
you’ve thought about these questions when choosing
your new best friend.

Where do you live?
And where will your dog live?
You need to consider the breed
and the size your new puppy
will reach once they’re fully
grown to make sure there’s
enough space in your home
for them. Is your backyard
secure so your puppy can
run and play safely? Are your
fences big enough to hold your
curious new pet? If you rent,
make sure your landlord is okay
with you having a dog.
Does their size suit you?
Contrary to popular belief, big
dogs aren’t necessarily the
most temperamental, and
can be more tolerant and
gentle. Very small dogs require
delicate handling, so young
children might not be a great
match for your puppy.
Are they right for you?
It’s not just size that you need
to consider. Make sure you
research the breed and energy
levels first.
Temperament: Dogs bred for
guard-dog duties may be more
protective, while dogs bred as
companion animals will be
great for lots of cuddles!
Exercise: How much exercise
and activity will your puppy
need? Be careful not to over or
under-exercise your dog.
Grooming: Do you prefer
a low-moult coat? Are you
prepared to clip and brush
your pet regularly?
Indoor/Outdoor: Where will your
puppy spend the majority of
their time, and does that suit
their breed?
Will they be alone a lot?

constant companionship.

I feed my puppy?
Feeding the right food is an important part of giving your puppy the
best start in life. A super premium diet is the best way for your little one
to grow into a happy and healthy dog.

training in the first few days of your puppy coming home

bitten will attest. Habitual biting can
start as exploring objects, and turn

isn’t intentionally trying to hurt
you. If you find your puppy nipping
regularly, substitute what was bitten
for a toy. Ignore bad behaviour, and
end playtime as soon as they bite. If
biting continues, any time you feel
contact with your puppy’s teeth,
make a high-pitched ‘yeow’ noise, to
teach your pet that biting hurts and
is not okay.
