ABSTRACT

A comparison between batch, continuous-stirred tank and plug flow reactors regarding
the efficiency for each reactors has been done by saponification reaction. The hydrolysis
reaction is between 25L of ethyl acetate and 25L of sodium hydroxide producing sodium acetate
and ethanol. It is found that the hydrolysis reaction is a second-order reaction. A conductometric
technique is being implemented in order to measure the conductivity of each reactor. Based on
the result obtained, plug flow reactor has the highest conversion compared to the other reactors
at 33.2116154% and it is believed that the plug flow reactor is the most efficient reactor.
