MANANGAN, QUEENIE GWYNETH B.

BSTM- 1

ACTIVITY #6

”With great power comes with great responsibility,” a line from the famous super-hero, Spiderman. I excerpt
this quote in my introduction as a citizen of our country. We can make a big difference in every move we do. This
movement may result negative or positive to others and it may affect the routine of the generation.
University of La Salette Inc., conducted an orientation or a seminar on the 31 st day of August 2019, at 9:00
in the morning that was attended by Sir Ronnie S. Viray, our NSTP Coordinator, to our NSTP Instructors together
with the two speakers; Mr. Carlos C. Dela Cruz, Ph. D and Mr. Richard Gomez and to everyone who participated the
event. The program started with a prayer, entitled “Lead me Lord” that was sang by Sir Baccay, our NSTP Instructor,
followed by the Singing of National Anthem and the NSTP Pledge that was led by NSTP-CWTS member.
To start with the program, our NSTP Coordinator, Sir Ronnie S. Viray, gave an inspiring and encouraging
message. Afterwards, Sir Viray introduces the first speaker, Mr. Carlos C. Dela Cruz, Ph. D. First of all, the first
speaker elaborates the NSTP objectives which is; to promote and protect the physical, mental, spiritual, intellectual,
and social well-being of the youth, to inculcate patriotism and nationalism in the youth, to encourage their
involvement in public and civic affairs, to identify their role as change agents in the community, and to prepare and
implement projects that will answer specific needs of the society. He also explained to us what can we digest from
the appetizers he illustrated. Mr. Dela Cruz also included some excerpts from the NSTP Law RA 9163 of 2001 as
well as the Legal Framework- 1987 Constitution Article II Section 13 of the 1987. He also told us the importance of
human values because it provides us the foundational basis for our personal behaviours. In addition, he also
explained the Core Values; Maka-Tao, Maka-Bansa, Maka-Kalikasan, and Maka-Diyos and he said that self-
discipline is existential psychologist profess that man’s primarily problem is no less but himself. And that we are the
image and likeness of God, kawangis-kaloob tayo ng Diyos. He ended his presentation
After the photo op with the first speaker, Sir Viray welcomed the second speaker, Mr. Richard Gomez. He
discussed the 20 ways on how to become a responsible Filipino citizen. According to him, we, the citizens, are the
first leaders of this democratic republic country. We are the roots of our leaders. In other words, we are the ones who
choose the people who will lead our government. Our leaders and government officials originate from our votes.
Thus, for our country to improve, progress must begin with us. We have to be responsible citizens to achieve
personal and national development. Mr. Gomez also said, that this list has given us some ideas to transform
ourselves into an even better and a more responsible citizen. Remember that they are just my suggestions, not
instructions. So feel free to share your opinions. You can also suggest and add more ways to develop ourselves and
our entire country. And that ends his presentation.
After the orientation, Sir Ronnie S. Viray, our NSTP Coordinator, instructed us to return the chairs we used from
the orientation. We also picked pieces of papers, candy wrappers and plastic bottles that were scattered in the area.
After all, it has been informative that it left new learning to the students because they were given a chance to ask
questions to the speaker. Indeed, the orientation was a complete success.
