1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this Guide Document is to define the informations to be completed for
spring hangers and tie-rod hangers items supplied by MANUFACTURERS per data
sheets.
NOTE : Document is illustrated with parts of supplier catalogue . Origin is only to clarify
the text and examples and don’t intend the choice of a selected supplier.

4. INFORMATIONS TO BE SPECIFIED ON EXCEL FILES DATA SHEETS.

This SP forms may be completed by the Stress Analysis group (for all information related
to stress: from column 1 up to 15 + 22) AND by the Support Group (for all information
related to support: from column 16 up to 23 +6) according to project organisation.
NOTE: The current data sheet form is defined for specific project and Mariane software for
supplying items references. Any modification is forbidden concerning the columns position
or digit numbers except contract requirement.

4.1 VARIABLE SPRING SUPPORTS

4.1.1 ITEM DESCRIPTION

ƒ UNIT NUMBER : per contract . Unit number may be for different UNITS .
ƒ HV for Hanger Variable: As specified in Support Mark . Refer to serial STC 1393
00 for mounting possibilities.

multi-centers parts a range for each one will be defined by Support Specialist (
refer. To GE-353-3-6)
ƒ NOTE : SPRING MARKING NUMBER DIGITS : The SPRING MARKING
NUMBER will be :
000 HV 1001 (as example)
These criteria will be defined by the support specialist according to contract.
The Support mark of STC (HV01, HV02 ,..) shall not be reported on the data
sheet to avoid confusion with spring marking.
ƒ 4/ QUANTITY: May be 0, 1 or 2 ( see chapter 5 for details).
ƒ 5/ REVISION :
ƒ For the purchasing phase will be specified by the Support specialist per supply
revision (0, 1, 2,..).
ƒ For inquiry phase, revision will be A for the first issue.
ƒ For management inter-operating centers see Chapter 6.
ƒ 6/ SUPPORT IDENTIFICATION ON ISOMETRIC

4.1.2 LINE DESCRIPTION

ƒ 7/ ISOMETRIC NUMBER: per information of isometrics.

ƒ 8/ INSULATION THICK: Specify the type and thickness except for personal
protection.
ƒ 9/ TEMPERATURE: Specify the maximum design temperature or specific
condition at line junction from calculation note.
ƒ CAUTION : Read NOTES at the left top of the data sheet.
ƒ TEMPERATURE to be specified on cold lines will be the temperature at
connecting point out of insulation.( e.g : minimum ambient temperature from the
project.)

4.1.3 CALCULATION REPORT AND SPRING SUPPORT SPECIFICATION

ƒ To be fill-in by Stress Analysis group according to calculation note report spring
supports sheet.

ƒ 10/ CALCULATION REPORT: Specify if required the process unit per calculation
note, the calculation note number and the concerned node(s) of spring.

ƒ 11 / MOVEMENT : Specify the sign (up or down) and value of vertical

displacement indicated on calculation note report. (round off displacement. e.g: 4
mm and not 3,43 mm ) :
ƒ + for up displacement.
ƒ - for down displacement.
ƒ Horizontal displacement only if > 10mm without sign.
ƒ 12 / OPERATING LOAD / SHOP CALIBRATION: Specify the load(s) defined on
stress analysis report.
ƒ When calculation give only one load specify it : it may be the OPERATING
or SHOP CALIBRATING LOAD according to the type of line
ƒ Other load will be defined per spring rate specified in column 22.
ƒ 13 / HYDROTEST: Specify the hydrotest load if indicated on the calculation note
report.
ƒ 14/ LOCKING DEVICE: Except specific information complete by YES.

4.1.4 SPRING SUPPORT ATTACHMENT

ƒ 15/ ELEV. Refer to STC serial 1393 00

ƒ 16/ CLAMP DIAMETER: ONLY FOR MOUNTING WITH A CLAMP.
Specify the clamp diameter to be supplied
ƒ 17/ U to specify for specific mounting per spring data sheets and for base spring
type.
ƒ 18/ X per mounting type on STC serial 1393 00.
ƒ 19/ TECHNIP TYPE ASSEMBLY: Per STC serial 1393 00: Always specify the

ƒ For the specific mounting of TRAPEZE TYPE 24 on standard HV02 (welded spring
house to shape) (see ITEM 1524 on ATTACHMENT 1) loads shall be specified BY

(point 4) and span indicated in REMARK.

ƒ For TYPES 20, 21,22, 23, 25 of HV02 ( independent double springs ) specify :
ƒ Quantity 2 ( in column quantity) for springs with same loads and specify load by
spring ( e.g: 20 kN x 2 in column REMARK (point 22)
ƒ Qauntity 1 with 2 different item numbers in the column SPRING MARKING ( e.g :
HV-1522 and 1523 on ATTACHMENT 1) if loads are not equal ( may be specific on
CN).

ƒ For spring support with base height is directly in relation per supplier catalog, so for
installation it shall be provided a free heigth of U + 100 mm except if supplier is defined
early in time at the detailed support phase.

ƒ NOTE : This type shall be used with attention due to the friction between the pipe
and the spring upper base . For horizontal displacements over ~ 5 mm a sliding plate
will be provided at the top of the spring.

Per supplier, height of installation U may be :

ƒ Independent of calibrating load and displacement so it’s U defined in supplier
catalogue.
ƒ Defined to the middle of total range of spring displacement.
ƒ Maximum height J spring relaxed

As general rule, this type will be used on pumps with horizontal connections.
In other cases for short height X ( under compressor table as example) use the TYPE
26 .

4.1.5 SUPPLIER DESIGNATION

ƒ 20/ SUPPLIER DESIGNATION : Will be completed by the Support specialist
or defined by the Supplier according to it’s own catalogue, but support designer
shall assure that mounting height ( X ) are sufficient for the installation.
ƒ 21/PRING RATE (N/mm) : To specify per calculation note report or Specialist
support per supplier catalogue close to calculation note requirement.
ƒ 22/ REMARKS : Specify remarks according to NOTES or information to supplier as
typical under .

5. COMPLEMENTARY COMPONENTS REQUIREMENTS

To avoid send back of miscellaneous components (tie-rods, turnbuckle, eye nut,..) which
may be lost or due to minus changes, it’s recommended in the last issue to provide few of
these components for field .

5.1 CONSTANT SPRING HANGERS

ƒ HC : Hanger Constant ( in place of HV)
All informations are similary than variable springs except :
ƒ Column 12 where only calibrating load has to be indicated
ƒ Column 21 without spring rate.

5.2 TIE-ROD HANGERS

ƒ HT : Hanger Tie (rod) ( in place of HV)
All informations are similary than variable springs except than there is no calculation note
required on each case, no calibration and spring rate .

6. REQUIREMENTS FOR LOWER CONNECTION TO PIPES

ƒ When there is no specific requirement on the project, the using of clamped system
diameter may be limited as follows to consider the influence of clamp price (it’s not an
imposition) .

6.1 CLASSIFIED HOT LINES

These informations are given only as guideline and are to be adapted to the installation
cases or stress requirements.
ƒ Carbon steel pipe, Alloy steel pipe and Stainless steel pipe up to 300°C: 2” to 24”

6.2 CLASSIFIED COLD LINES

On classified cold lines or cryogenic lines CLAMPS SHALL NOT BE USED IN DIRECT
CONTACT WITH THE MAIN PIPE.
ƒ Use eye nut (clamp will be supplied by PUF manufacturer) for Dia. ½” to 4” and
clevis for over diameters.

ƒ Eye plate ( STC WE53 ) or clevis welded on a trunnion plate according to loads.

7. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT FOR LENGTH X

Length X1 between rotation points shall not over ~ +/- 3° between the position at cold
installation and the hot position. In case of problem refer to the support lead of the
contract.

8. COMPLEMENTARY SPECIFIC DETAILS OR INFORMATIONS

ƒ For TYPE 25 Lisega layed between beams add a base plate type 72 : specify this
in column REMARK of data Sheet .

ƒ CONSTANT SPRING LAYED

Using of constant spring layed shall be avoided, in particular for cantilever systems .
If necessary, a sliding plate will be required at the top plate of spring.

ƒ When sliding plate is required at top of spring plate ( variable or constant),

Information shall be clearly indicated on the correspondent data-sheet, including
upper polished stainless steel plate.

9. HOW TO DEFINE NEW, MODIFIED OR DELETED ITEMS DURING PURCHASING

PHASE. ( SEE ATTACHMENT 1)
ƒ If an item is « deleted » after purchase order, this item SHOULD NOT BE used for a
new one.
ƒ E.g on Attachment : item HV-1525 deleted : if new spring at same point item will be
HV-1529 as example
ƒ Items which may not be purchased at a Purchasing phase review due to :
ƒ Hold information as item HV 1520 on ATTACHMENT 1.

10. USING OF REVISIONS

To avoid confusion in revisions during the project, the data sheets shall be in the
following reviews.
ƒ LETTER A is for INQUIRY PHASE ( Price and technical quotation)
ƒ LETTERS B TO …shall be for Centres which send the data sheet to POC
for supplying phase.
ƒ REV. shall be increased at each time centre sent a modified data sheet
with clearly modifications, deleted or new items defined.
ƒ NUMBERS 0 to….will be used by the POC support department for
PURCHASE PHASE.
