Prioritizing Your Tasks

Use these terms and definitions below to understand concepts taught in the course.

Transcript Search: Note that you can search for terms directly within the course. To search video text, switch to
the Transcripts tab, then press Cmd/Ctrl + F on your keyboard to run a search within the active transcript.

Term Definition

most valuable activities These activities provide you with the highest value per time spent;
(MVAs) they should be prioritized over other activities.

time-value prioritization This method of ordering tasks includes steps that allow us to
funnel remove tasks from our list, delegate some tasks to others, and
thoughtfully allocate time for ourselves.

zero-value activities These include wasting time, negative self-talk, and destructive
behaviors. Say “no” to zero-value activities.

positive procrastination Activities that are valuable but not time-sensitive may be delayed
with intention.

interruptions These switches in your attention are a major productivity killer


that can chew up more than a quarter of your time.

gathering points Any place where you collect unprocessed items

consolidation Collecting multiple sources into one central location

focus The strategic allocation of resources toward that which is of most


value

focus management This ability to make good choices in how you allocate resources
toward what you value allows you to succeed.
