INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

(This is only if you have the full CD Version or the (Bootable HERETIC_II CD
install.iso) provided.

*Note: (The CD-Rom is not necessary for installing Heretic II).

Read all the text files for help and further install information. This will update
you to the full version
of the "Heretic II" multiplayer game.

IMPORTANT NOTE!
===============

1. Burn the Heretic II image on a CD if you wish to hear the music. Otherwise
continue with the
instructions found below. (The CD-Rom is not necessary for installing Heretic
II).
2. Apply the Heretic II Enhancement Pack v1.06 to patch the game to the latest
version.
3. win2kserverfix (replace the quake2.dll in the Heretic II folder with this one.)
4. Apply the other updates that you need.

How to install without burning the Bootable HERETIC_II CD.

Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7,8,10 do the following:

1. How to install without burning/mounting the Heretic II CD-Rom.

2. Unzip the "Bootable HERETIC_II CD install"
3. Explore the folder "bin" on the cd and run Demo32.exe
4. It will ask for a file to open, select bin/H2_Setup.dbd
5. Continue installation as normal.
6. Run the "Heretic II Enhancement Pack v1.06 (14.1 MB) the same way if a problem
installing."
7. install the "win2kserverfix"
8. heretic2.v106-1280x1024-video.tweak(final), H2-1600x900 or the H2-1920x1200
video fix.
9. EAX soundfix that some sound cards might need or one of the other fixes
mentioned in a readme provided.

1. place your original Heretic II cd in your drive;

2. when auto-run opens, close it;
3. explore the folder "bin" on the cd and run Demo32.exe;

These update files can be found in the updates folder.

* In order to enable the music in Heretic II you must BURN the game on a CD instead
of mounting
it on a virtual drive. Also you must disable all virtual drives provided by Daemon
Tools / Virtual
CloneDrive or other emulation software and instead play the game with your burned
copy of Heretic II
in your CD/DVD-ROM, otherwise you will only get voice and sound effects within the
game but NO MUSIC.

* For those that do not have the CD version. I have provided another means to hear
sound and music which can be
found in the Heretic II update folder by installing the "Heretic II soundtracks
folder" into your "Heretic II
folder. Follow readme instructions "What you need to do to play the music without
CD" inside the "Heretic II soundtracks folder".

8. heretic2.v106-1280x1024-video.tweak(final), H2-1600x900 or the H2-1920x1200

video fix.
9. EAX soundfix that some sound cards might need or one of the other fixes
mentioned in a readme provided.

*Note: If you are still having problems with the sound try this:

Set your sound system in game settings to "default sound, and disable the
"EAXSnd.dll" by appending ".disabled" to it.

(example: EAXSnd.dll.disabled").

I don't recall the specific problem with the DLL, but know my system is just dandy
with it disabled.

10. Apply any other of the fixes provided in the updates folder that you might
need.

" Read all the readme instructions each update uses before applying the updates.

Now you have the original Heretic II game installed on your computer. Without all
the custom Mods and map files etc... created over the years.

11. To use those files you need to update your Heretic II with the "Heretic II base
folder update files" folder provided.

* IMPORTANT NOTES!
=========================

Install instructions for Heretic II base folder update files:

"Heretic II base folder" is a copy of the all the maps,textures,skins,models,

etc.... created over the years.

After installing Heretic II you need to unzip the "Heretic II base folder update
files.zip" and copy the "base" folder found inside to the
"Heretic II folder to update the "Heretic II" files for the game to a full install.
Overwrite any files necessary.

You should copy the "base" folder into the "Heretic II" folder.

example:

"C:\Program Files\Heretic II\base" for Windows XP/Vista or "C:\Program Files

(x86)\Heretic II\base" if you are using Windows 7/10.

HereticII.iso zipped download folder.
This will update you to the full version of the "Heretic II" multiplayer game.

12. You also need to install each "Mod" found in the "Heretic II Mods to install"
folder into the "Heretic II folder afterwards.

Mods: (Siege,THF,Emod, Oglequest and Tmod: which includes the

skullhunters,instagib,etc... mods).

*Note:

You should also install the each "Mod" found in the "Heretic II Mods to install"
folder so that you can
play the other Mods, especially if you join a server oneline.

Install each Mod in to the Heretic II folder.

example: "C:\Program Files\Heretic II\Tmod", etc...

* Important Notes:
--------------------

* Install all the updates that you need in the "Heretic II update files after
install folder."
Read the instructions before applying updates.

* Use Compatibility Mode: Windows XP Service Pack 2 if you are experiencing

problems.

*To play the game use compatability mode Windows XP Service Pack2 or "run the
compatability troubleshooter.

* Note: Your playing config is found in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Heretic

II\base\config folder"

* You need to set your video card settings appropiately and it is best to leave
sound on default settings if you
are having any problems or use one of those sound fixes provided.

First start the game. Make sure all Video and Audio card settings correspond to
your computer system.
Use the "monitor resolution fix" found in the updates folder to fix Video settings
if needed. Next, make sure the audio card works for sound. If there
is a problem try using default settings for sound... If that fails to work setup
the "Heretic II soundtrack" fix which allows directshow for sound.
This works on all Heretic II installs. (Note: to use "Heretic II soundtrack" fix.
"_inmmserv.exe" must be enabled). To use that you need to install
the "_inmmserv.exe" file.

13. Configuration file setup:

-----------------------------

*See the three "Heretic II setup1.jpg, Heretic II setup2.jpg, and Heretic II

setup3" photos for further game settings.

Once you are ready to play start the game, bring down the console window
using the "~" key and type the following and press enter for each...

set cd_nocd 1
rate 5000
cl_maxfps 60
cl_yawspeed 300

type: savecfg and press enter (to save your changes).

savecfg (to save your changes). These settings can be added manually in your
playing config file as well.

fov: Can be set from 90-110 whichever is best to you ex: type fov 100 and then
savecfg.

Also, you can type "name" in the console window and rename your playing
configuration to your liking and
then type "savecfg" press enter to save it in the base/config folder.

TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE:

14. Install the Gamespy3D (photo instructions included) or install Qtracker (follow
the text instructions).

* In the Multiplayer tab click join server and then refresh server list. This
should give you a list of default servers that you can join
once you updated your user.cfg in the "Heretic II/user" folder. Read the Heretic II
Multiplayer info.txt file found in the "Heretic II install folder.

* Join the "Ravem-games forums or Heretic II Community forums" on "facebook" for

help and inquire for a "new Gamespy install" that works for "Heretic II".
