Appendix 1 – Foundation Loading Diagrams

Foundation loading diagrams shall show the full outline of the equipment footprint and shall provide
full holding down bolt requirements including diameter, projection and thread length. Details of all
pockets required for shear keys and the like shall also be shown.

The diagram shall also include a schedule of the foundation design loads for the equipment. This
schedule shall be clearly cross-referenced to the foundation arrangement. Foundation design loads
shall be provided as primary load cases (not as combined load cases). The direction and sign of the
loads shall be clearly stated. Dynamic loads, e.g. out of balance, reciprocating, rotating or alternating
and the frequency of excitation, shall be clearly defined.

As a minimum, the following load cases shall be considered:

 dead load of empty/non-operational equipment

 load due to process contents of equipment under normal operating conditions
 load due to drive forces under normal operating conditions
 load due to process contents of equipment under flooded/blocked/stalled condition
 load due to motor/drive forces during start under load condition
 load due to dynamic forces under normal operating conditions
 load due to dynamic forces during start-up and shut-down
 Live Load in accordance with AS 1170.1
 Wind Load in accordance with AS 1170.2
 Seismic Load in accordance with AS 1170.4.
