Abstract
The effect of turbulence on the compression ignition engine has the influence on combustion and engine performance.
Obstructing the air entering into the combustion chamber has the turbulence effect on the combustion. An inlet valve taken
from the diesel engine was modified to make obstruction in the intake air flow into the cylinder. The turbulence effect
between the normal valve and the modified valve was compared using the CFD fluent software. From the analysis, it is
found that the designed obstruction has a better effect on turbulence and the turbulence energy has been doubled. © 2017,
