My worst buy What have you bought that you later wish you hadn’t?
When I got my first well-paid job, I bought a huge car and now I regret it. It looks good and I chose it in crimson so it
really stands out the biggest problem is that it’s not practical for city driving. It’s hard to park and its fuel consumption is
terrible so it’s very expensive to run. My wife isn’t happy either, because it cost a fortune and there are other cars which
are much more environmentally friendly.
Jeff
Some baggy jeans! I’m not tall and the shape doesn’t suit me. I should have bought close-fitting ones. They’d look much
better on me. I didn’t because they weren’t in fashion at the time – and now they are! I don’t buy stuff now that doesn’t
suit me the jeans weren’t well made. I think it’s worth paying more for good-quality clothes.
Marina
We bought a second-hand washing machine last year, and it’s always breaking down. I really wish we’d waited a bit
longer and saved up to buy a good-quality one. We’re going to get rid of it. It was a waste of money.
Tim
My parents gave me some money to buy a warm woollen winter coat, but I bought a black leather jacket instead the
jacket is great, but my parents were furious! I had to save up and buy a coat myself, so I couldn’t go out with my friends
for ages. I wasn’t allowed to buy clothes for myself for a few months either!
Simon
My watch is useless! It’s trendy but the face is dark blue and the hands are black, so it’s almost impossible to tell the
time. I don’t bother wearing it much. Everyone thinks it’s smart but it’s totally impractical as a watch. I have to look at
my mobile if I want to know what time it is!
Ben
I bought some shoes just because they were in fashion. I got them in a discount store, but even then they weren’t cheap.
They were an ultramodern design, and I thought I’d wear them. They didn’t have my size so they were a bit small and
they were so uncomfortable! I only wore them once. en I gave them to a charity shop.
