IGPIT NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL HOMEROOM GUIDANCE


IMPLEMENTATION 2020

Homeroom Guidance is a comprehensive, developmental and proactive program


designed to equip K to 12 learners with life skills on three domains namely; Academic
Development, Personal and Social Development, and Career Development. It is dedicated to
address these needs of the learners in a developmental, comprehensive, and proactive
manner. This shall be realized through the collaborative efforts of family, school, community,
government, and other institutions.
The Igpit National High School successfully implemented the Homeroom Guidance
Program in the 1st Quarter of this school year through the leadership of our school principal,
Mrs. Noba J. Rubion. With the help of the Guidance Designate as the program manager and
Class Advisers as program implementer. Our school principal supervised and monitored the
implementation of the program and insured that proper intervention for each learner will be
provided. She made sure that all teachers participated the orientation on the implementation of
Homeroom Guidance so that teachers will be able to acquire full knowledge on how to
implement the program in their respective classes. The Guidance designate ensured the
correct content and pedagogy of Homeroom Guidance in school. The class advisers
collaborated with the parents in developing the competencies of the learners at home through
conducting homeroom meetings and home visitations. The advisers, together with the
guidance designate and the parents, identified and implemented possible interventions for the
progress of the learner.
Behind the success of the implementation of the program in the 1 st quarter, we also
encountered issues and concerns that were immediately responded by our principal and also
with the help of our Division Guidance and Counselling Supervisor Ms. Rofelia De Mesa who
was always active in responding to our queries and concerns.
Due to the delayed distribution of printed materials of Homeroom Guidance modules
from the central office, the designate downloaded the soft copy of the modules in the division
learning resource portal, and printed the copies of modules shouldered by the school with the
approval of our Principal. Since the resources were limited, difficulty in adjusting the spacing,
font style, and font size was experienced by the designate before finalizing the material to
suffice the need with the resources available. The advisers also observed that the given tasks
on each of the module were too lengthy and the time allotment of the tasks was not enough for
the learners to finish them. The concern was immediately addressed by the school head and
come-up to an intervention in which advisers would communicate with parents of the learners
who failed to answer the module, ask them the possible reasons for not complying the tasks
given to their children, and explain to them how they can help and guide their children in
answering the module. Home Visitation was also conducted by the class advisers to those
learners who were not able to get the homeroom guidance modules and to parents who were
not able to follow-up their children’s development despite of constant reminder to coordinate
with the school.
In assessing the learner’s development and monitoring of the program, the class
advisers also kept track of their level of development by utilizing Learner’s Development
Assessment Tool guided by verbal descriptions given in the homeroom guidance manual.
Learner’s development was assessed through their performance task.
Overall, with the results and observations gathered by the school principal, guidance
designate and class advisers as of the 1 st quarter of this school year, the implementation of the
homeroom guidance program was a huge success in the development of skills along
academic, personal and social, and career aspects of learners.
