Thank you for joining me in this

very important discussion about
Personal Computer, its parts
and its functions.
What is Personal

Computer?

It's also known as Desktop or PC for

short.

- It is an electronic device that can perform all of

its inputs, output processing, and storage activities
by itself. A personal computer has hardware and
software that is linked together that is able to
process data and information.
Computer Case

- It holds all of the internal components to make up

the computer itself.

Functions

Motherboard

- It serves as a single platform to connect all parts of a

computer together. Its function is to integrate all the
components with each other so they can
communicate and operate together.
Central Processing Unit (CPU)

- It is basically like the brain of the computer which

processes all the information on a computational level. It
takes information from the RAM and processes it to
perform the required task from the PC

Random Access Memory (RAM)

- It is a data storage device that can provide fast read and write
access. It keeps data ready for the CPU to process, and its speed is
a big contributor to the overall speed of the computer.

Graphics Card

- It processes data from the motherboard and sends appropriate

information to the monitor in order for it to be displayed. It is also
referred to as a video card or display card. It takes the burden of all
the video processing from the main CPU, which gives a computer a
big boost in performance.
Sound Card

- Most of the time the sound chip built into the motherboard is
used for audio output. If you prefer playing games with detailed
audio it is best to use a sound card.

Hard Drive

- It is found in most computers, it is a mechanical drive that stores

all the data. Aside from storing data it is also used as a boot drive in
order to run the operating system.
Solid State Drive (SSD)

- It is also a type of hard drive, but it doesn't have any moving

parts. It consist of a bank of flash memory that can hold data.

Power Supply Unit (PSU)

- It converts the AC mains supply from the wall socket and supplies
the correct DC voltage to all the components inside the computer.

a type of hard drive, but it doesn't have any moving

Keyboard

- It is one of the ways to communicate with a computer. By typing a key from the
keyboard, it sends a small portion of data to tell the computer which key was
pressed.

Mouse

- It allows the user to move a pointer displayed on the monitor and

experience a more intuitive interaction with the computer.
