PURPOSE OF VISIT:

Client counselling is a vital skill in which students and law should be trained. One of the
significant functions of a lawyer is to advice the people who seek assistance in knowing the legal
implications of their actions. The main function of the lawyer is influencing and facilitating the
decision which is called counselling.
However on 5th of March, 2021 I received an opportunity to attend the client counselling session in
the office of Adv. Suvarna Tanaji. In the evening around 7 pm I reached at her office and after a while
one client came at her office her name was Asha Jain, after her arrival the advocate’s staff asked her
for a glass of water and cup of tea.
The Client started with her problem with regard to matter concerning. That his husband beating her
daily and she is not able to explain her situation even what happened with her. She said her husband is
not a good man and he beats her every day and he is very frustrated at night after he come back from
office and because of some personal problems at office he through his frustration on his wife who is
innocent.
She was crying and told that she was victim of sexual assault and she alleged her husband does this
and wants to file a petition against her husband under section 375 of Indian Penal Code.as the Marital
rape is inhuman practice and the infringement of Article 14 and 21 of constitution.
Advocate listened and explained her all the procedure and made her assure that she will try her best
and asked her about all the documents like FIR certified copies etc and she assured her positively that
she will help her as good as she can.
Overall she used different techniques like active listening, empathy, effective communication and
advised her about all the queries which she had.
Many of people get scared as soon as they struck in any litigation process as it is necessary that an
advocate must assure them to help them in any condition by making them comfort to share all things
with her. Overall I learned many things from Ma’am.
