INTERACTION

Activation T-SS Greet students and ask them how

Explain to them that today we will


be breaking down the reading
process.

Pre-reading SS The below excerpt will be read aloud


25mins and would be asked to predict what
the piece is about

“Will and a girlfriend had gone out to


nightclubs with them once or twice a week, and
they had all had a lot of fun. But since John and
Christine had had children, everything had
changed.”

Students will also be asked to guess and


write the meaning of highlighted
words/phrases in the passage like ‘cool guy’,
‘royalties’ and ‘godfather’

3 Questions will be given to be answered for


discussion and review:

1. Why do you think Will did not want


to have children?
2. Do you think Will is living happily?
3. What was the offer made to him and
do you think he accepted?

Reading SS Assign the short story ‘A man and a


35 boy’ for students to read

Ask students to fill in the correct


meaning of highlighted words next to
their guesses and answer assigned
questions

Post- Reading SS Students get into threes and discuss


5 mins your answers for question 3 to create
an ending to the story

T-SS Students’ answers to questions will be


15 mins discussed
