DRUG ADDICTION
Addiction is a chronic dysfunction of the
brain system that involves reward,
motivation, and memory. It's about the way
your body craves a substance or behavior,
especially if it causes a compulsive or
obsessive pursuit of "reward" and lack of
concern over consequences.

Common things that most of the teens are addicted nowadays:
— Video games – this type of addiction could combat stress that
attained by the students due to course work load and peer
pressure.
— Alcohol - Alcohol makes up the vast majority of substance-
related problems on college campuses. Because drinking is often
socially acceptable, recognizing a problem in college students
who drink can be difficult.
—Marijuana, ecstasy, etc (Illegal Drugs)

 What is Drug Addiction ?
Drug addiction is a disease that negatively affects a
person’s brain and behavior. A person can become

obsessed with any legal or illegal drugs. Some people

can get addicted to certain medications. This
addiction gradually starts developing when the
individual continues to consume the drug despite the
impairment it causes.

— Mild hallucinations
— Increased appetite
— Reduced anxiety
Inhalants
Inhalants produce effects that can be
similar to alcohol use and are most
commonly abused by teens. They are
easy to acquire and often found in the
household.

Shabu
Crystal meth releases a large amount
of dopamine in the brain, which
creates a heightened sensation of
pleasure. When the high wears off,
users want to experience that
sensation again. As the person
continues to use the drug, their brain
produces less dopamine, and they
must take higher and higher doses to
achieve the same effect as before.
When they stop using, they may
experience cravings and withdrawal
symptoms that increase the potential
for relapse
