Radio-Frequency

Identification

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is a rectangular shaped device that uses

electromagnetic fields that automatically identifies tags attached to objects. Each RFID has
Identification (ID) card detector to read the bar codes printed on ID card. Also, each of it has
three long bars that serve as barriers so that if someone cannot present an ID card will not be able
to pass through. The SLSU uses RFID to identify those who are authorized to make an entrance
to the campus. Its purpose is to make sure that those who are only entitled such as students,
professors, and other employees can go through RFID by tapping the SLSU ID card onto it. Any
kind of ID cards can be easily recognized by this RFID. Hypothetically, if someone who is not
actually a student of SLSU but dressed as a student and tap a fake ID, s/he can be
accommodated. In other words, clever outsiders have the possibility of getting inside the campus
through RFID. This means that RFID was formed systematically but functionally ugly.
Emblem of Excellence
(SLSU Paragon)

The Paragon is the

SLSU's own emblem that
portrays a maiden standing on a solid rock, raising a flambeau or flaming torch with both hands,
painted with color gold that is placed between the gymnasium and covered court. SLSU made an
emblem not just to add design for the university, but also to exemplify their identity, goal,
mission and vision. It symbolizes an outstanding example or model of excellence. The Paragon is
made to function as a living reminder for the whole SLSU — the faculties, staffs and especially
students that their destination after entering the institution is nothing but Excellence. Indeed, the
Paragon embodies reverence for God, quality education, love for nature and great excellency.
Southern Luzon State
University - Gymnasium

Since a full-size
basketball court had
been installed in the
gymnasium permanently,
it cannot accommodate
its purpose. To able to use the gymnasium, rather than a basketball ball, a rubber is need to be
place in the court. For reason it cannot serve its purpose because the late administration will not
let the student use the gymnasium. Even though the gymnasium have a great from, have a lot of
standard sits and a big ceiling fan, it just can’t serve its purpose.
Southern Luzon State
University - Chapel

Chapel is a
place of worship,
sometimes non-
denominational, that is part of a building or complex with some other main purpose, such as a
school, hospital, palace or large aristocratic house, castle, barracks, prison, funeral home,
cemetery, airport and etc. The chapel in SLSU have a huge purpose in the university. Every
month each faculty and department were assigned or have a scheduled time wherein they need to
attend and participate in a mass. It serves as a meeting place for believers of Jesus Christ. A
place where people pray their hearts out. A particular place where the helpless people became
full of hopes after talking to Him. Also, the students of the university have their chances to visit
God, when they’re having a bad day, when they failed on exams or other school related works,
they visit the chapel. This means that it is functionally beautiful.
College of Administration,
Business, Hospitality, and
Accountancy - Elevator

Elevators or lifts, as they are commonly called, is a form of vertical transport used
primarily to mover between multiple floors found in high-rises and skyscrapers. These are used
to transport both people and goods from one floor to another. In fact, today elevators have
become a necessary addition to high-rises and other large buildings to make it easier for people
with mobility issues to negotiate those using wheelchairs. We cannot deny that elevator gives so
much comfortable to people because instead of taking the stairs there is elevator, which can be
convenient and have a less time and effort for them to go in any floors of a building. The elevator
in CABHA building is quite different from the elevators of other industrial buildings. The fact
that CABHA is only a 5 story building we don’t find that the elevator is useful for the students or
professors. Yes, the elevator is functioning but not all the time, and there are instances that even
though the elevator is not fully loaded there is a chance that people can be trap inside. It is
functioning but not so well that is why for us, it is functionally ugly.
