Emerson Discharge Temperature

Control Valve Installation

As the busy season approaches, contractors and technicians need quick access to
product information. That’s why we have prepared the attached instructions on how to
easily install a discharge temperature control (DTC) valve on Copeland™ scroll
compressors.

In addition to the instructions attached, please note the following when installing DTC
valves on Copeland digital scroll models. The thermistor sensing bulb is in a different
location when compared to a standard model - see Image 1. There are three steps to
remember when installing a DTC valve on ZFD**KVE models.

1. Remove remote bulb cap and replace it with the DTC bulb.
2. Use either the 1/2” or 5/8” thermostat provided in Kit 998-1000-52 in the control circuit.
3. Use the 5K ohm resistor on the IDCM T1 and T2 terminals.
