Lesson Idea Name: Interactive Lesson Presentation

Content Area: Health Education
Grade Level(s): 10th Grade
Content Standard Addressed: Standard 1: Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion
and disease prevention to enhance health.

Technology Standard Addressed: ISTE-S 3c Students curate information from digital resources using a variety
of tools and methods to create collections of artifacts that demonstrate meaningful connections or
conclusions.
Selected Technology Tool: NearPod, Pear Deck, Google Slides, or any interactive presentation tool

Levels of Technology Integration (LoTi Level):

☐ Level 5: Expansion ☐ Level 6: Refinement

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I will address the three different Universal Design for Learning principles
by letting students create an interactive presentation on NearPod, Pear Deck, Google Slides, or any interactive
tool. This will allow the students to physically interact with the different tools to create a presentation.
Lesson idea implementation: At the beginning of class students will be instructed on what they are doing
during the class. They will have time to ask any questions they may have before getting started. The teacher
will present an example presentation with the NearPod tool so that students can see what they are expected
to do. The teacher will write on notecards different health topics (examples to write- alcohol/drugs, healthy
eating, mental health, personal health/wellness, sexual health, or tobacco). The notecards will go into a
bucket and each student will pull one out. Students will be given a tablet, or they can use their personal
device. The student will create an interactive presentation on the topic that is written on their notecard. The
students will use the rest of the class time to make their own presentations with 6 slides. They should finish it
for homework if it was not completed during class. As the students are working on this project, the teacher
will walk around and answer any questions and provide congruent feedback. The next class, when all projects
are completed, students will present their interactive presentations to the classroom. This will give the
students different ideas on all of the interactive tools they can use in the future.
Reflective Practice: Using the different interactive presentation tools will impact students learning
tremendously. They will be applying and using skills that can be used on their future projects. While using
these tools, students will also meet the health standards by using the health topics from the CDC. This project
gives each student an opportunity to do some research on the topics and educate themselves, as well as the
other students in the class. The goal of this lesson idea is to inspire students to apply these skills in the future.
These interactive tools will also be available to them after they leave school. To further this lesson, students
could be given a week to come up with a longer presentation. Instead of doing 6 slides, they could be
assigned to do 10. They could also be assigned more than 1 health topic to make an interactive presentation
on with a partner.
