Explain how Philippines scientific and technological inventions shaped and were

shaped by various social contexts? What are the driving forces for such inventions?

The Philippine’s scientific and technological inventions shaped and are shaped by various social
contexts through the colonization of some big countries from Europe and Asia wherein different
types of culture and teachings are introduced to the Philippine archipelago. With the
introduction of different innovative ideas, the Filipino people have learned to adapt and
eventually develop their own technological inventions using the knowledge shared by the
foreign culture. As more years have passed, the country continues to go further in terms of
technological advancement. These technological advancements greatly help the people in the
society through making their lives more comfortable (e.g., medicines that cured uncurable
diseases, mechanical tools, and etc.). There are many Filipino inventions that did help shaping
our society into what it is today. However, these inventions came from or are results of such
intentions and objectives. Just take banana ketchup as an example which was invented due to
the shortage of tomato sauce at the time (WWII), e-jeepney which promotes a pollution free
environment, and the low cost incubator with the objective of saving more lives of those people
that cannot afford using high tech incubators. Moreover, all these Filipino scientists have one
goal in mind which is to make innovations that would help advance the state of the Filipino
society and for the better future of our descendants.
