Subject description
Course Objectives

i. To
ii. To historical, current, and future
impacts of climate change on human society
iii. To enable students to appreciate the difference between information
sources from textbooks and scientific literature
iv. To impart skills in basic sentence and paragraph construction in
academic writing
Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to:
a) Understand the historical development of processes which maintain the
climatic balance
b) Recognize the dependence of social development and civilizations in the
particular climatic context and conditions
c) Understand the relationships between society and climate
response to climate change
d) Have a better understanding of climate change induced by greenhouse
gas emissions and our response to climate change
e) Use logical concepts of premises, inference and conclusion, to construct
meaningful discussions in academic writing
