History:

1 no. of CVT was found to be leaked from the insulator cementing joint.

Findings:

We found the following observations:


1. The CVT is verified for the damage and oil leakage is observed from the porcelain
and cementing joint. Minor oil leakage is observed from the joint as per below photos.

2. Insulator is found to be opened from cementing joint and due to this oil was coming
out.
3. Oil level in the EMU box is found to be ok.

Probable Root Causes:

As per the above observations the damages in the CVT may be due to the transport
jerks due to abnormal road conditions and improper damping on the CVT’s in
packing which can be improved.

Corrective action:

1. Rubber pad of higher shore hardness to be used between CVT and packing
case and also on the hardware as per below sketch and photos.

2. More awareness / information to be given to the transporters for the safe


driving of vehicle to avoid this transport damage issues.

Repair / Replacement:

The lower stack of CVT to be replaced with the new stack followed by all Routine
Tests before dispatch to the site.
