Self Reflection

Hello, My name is Bobby Kristianto. I am on my third year of ophthalmology

residency at Udayana University Bali. At first time, I was very excited about being
resident especially ophthalmology resident because this is my dream to become
ophthalmologist and the more beautiful is that I can study at bali which is wonderful
place for study and also for relaxing like as going to beach or mountain.

At my first year, this is very difficult and also, I know that in early time of
residency ,that would be difficult for everyone. I must do any job in right time, right
place and in right term. Your physical and mental health are highly tested but in
being time, you were become accustomed about that. And in my first year, I learned
about anything basic of eye health and examination. Also, I learned how to handle
patient in the first hand, how to discipline about anything especially about the rule,
how to respect to senior and teacher. Maybe for my impression, it is a little bit shock
but after that, I know this is necessary and also, to teach me for my future later. And
now, I felt this is important to all of us

My Second year, I learned about patient and disease more intense. I got in to 4
rotation in 4 Big Division such as Glaucoma, EED, Vitreo-Retina and Cornea lens. At
glaucoma, I learned the first time how to handle patient by myself, how to prepare
the operation and also follow or being assistant for operation. I got excited about
that and also nervous. Sometime every thing for the first time are always make you
nervous. In this, rotation I got many patient to handle, got many patient to do the
LPI by myself and got 2 trabeculectomy operation by myself. In EED rotation, I
looked at many paitent in here, Seems EED is easy thing but when you get in and feel
it, EED is something you must take it seriously because it is not easy as its look and
thanks to my teacher that teach me about everything. At My next rotation which is
vitreoretina, for my first impression I feel like it is the hard one but in mean time, I
love vitreoretina division and also, If I can get chance some day, I want to become
vitreoretina surgeon and I hope so ahahaha. My last rotation in my second year is
cornea lens. In this rotation, I learned many thing especially how to handle cataract
and in this rotation, I am very greatful about that I can do cataract operation by
myself and until now I become addicted about that.

In my third year, actually I still in my third and still on my way to finish it. So far I
like it but every division seems have a hard on its way but I am very excited and also
give me motivation to learn that. I hope I can go through that and learn many thing
in my third year.

And for my study program at udayana university, I am very proud of it because

every year,it always give some progress and innovation such charity, exchange
student to Australia, foreign lecturer from japan,Australia, England and USA. I think
this is very best opportunity for US,the resident to improve the knowledge and
experience . I think not many university in Indonesia could provide that and I think
udayana university especially ophthalmology study progam is able to compete with
other top level university.

Lastly, I would like to thank to god, my parent, all of my teacher especially in

udayana university and also all of my senior for all of caring, dedication, helping to
me for becoming an ophthalmologist to be and I hope maybe I can get any chance to
go to Australia to improve my English, knowledge and get some experience about
ophthalmology in other country.
