II. Question(s):

1. How practically relevant then is critical thinking towards the realization of the preparation
in the field of your study (as you will become a nurse, e.g.)?
• Be specific yet essentially elaborative in supplying situational example to support your
claim or point.
• Answer: 10-15 sentences only.
Ans:
Critical thinking skill is very essential in preparation in our field of study. It is a
style of thinking that is necessary for success with all the other processes. It represents the
rational thought process that underlies problem solving and decision making. We, as future
nurses, must be critical thinkers. For instance, in the hospital, nurses must decide not to
be attached to their patients but only to empathize. Nurses see thousands of patients and
many of them will die. Nurses do everything they can to help the patient and when they
die, it is already beyond of their control. Relatives may cry and mourn, but becoming
attached to patients doesn’t help them and it doesn’t help the nurses. I think, there is this
rule in the hospital that health care providers aren’t allowed to treat their family members
it is because when they care for someone so much, there will be a possibility that they
don’t think straight. There is so much pressure to cure them that health care providers
more likely to make rash decisions. This results in poor critical thinking because they are
driven by their emotions toward their family. It is not being uncaring, but the reality is, it
is not part of their job to give sympathy and be attached. Nurses as critical thinkers must
possess an open mind, think with less personal bias. Therefore, nurses as critical thinkers
should check their thinking according to standards, hospital standards.
