ZIRP clinical supervisors, Project Supervisor and Project coordinator. He/she will be
expected to perform the following functions:

 Drive office vehicles dedicated to the Zimbabwe Idai Recovery Project in

Mutare/Chipinge/Chimanimani and provide transportation of authorized personnel
and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;
 Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water,
batter, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, regular
servicing and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;
 Log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.;
 Ensure that all vehicle documents (e.g. insurance, registration documents e.t.c) are
present in the vehicle and up to date

T
HE late hardcore criminal and con-
vict Pedzisai Musariri was a tor-
mented soul in life and his nefarious
deeds continue to haunt his family in death.
Crimes he committed during his “acts of
terror” still heavily split the family close to
24 years after his demise.
Musariri was shot dead during the infa-
mous 1997 Chikurubi prison break involv-
ing hardcore criminals Stephen Chidhumo,
Mariko Ngulube and Elias Chauke.
He was serving a 19-year jail sentence for
a spate of crimes, mainly armed robberies.
Chidhumo (who was later recaptured
and hanged in 2002) managed to escape
unscathed while Ngulube died of serious
wounds sustained during the escape.
Chauke was recaptured.
Now, it appears the Musariri family is
still bent on punishing the late convict’s
daughter, Yvonne Musariri, for his father’s
crimes.
It gets worse!
The family itself is divided on how to
handle Yvonne’s case.
Some argue that welcoming her into the
clan is tantamount to “inviting demons”
inherited from the late convict while
others are calling for lenience.
The 26-year old was born to

IT appears humanity has developed a
disturbing knack for finding humour in
every difficult situation.
Of late, there has been a noted increase
on morbid jokes relating to serious or
frightening issues like death and illness.
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and
subsequent lockdown measures, which
have since been partially relaxed, have
not helped the situation either.
Covid-19 has been associated with a
lot of myths and misinformation from
the onset.
The rolling out of the Covid-19 vaccine
has set social media alight with comical
skits. While some are for a good cause,
say promoting good hygienic practices
to keep Covid-19 at bay, others are in
bad taste.
For instance, there are some that seem
to wrongly suggest the virus is God’s
weapon to eliminate wrong doers.
Fetid!
An underlying fact is a bulk of the skits
are created by individuals that lack ade-
quate information or are bent on caus-
ing unnecessary panic and despondency
within society.
However, as the world is facing a rav-
aging pandemic others see the need to
create humour to help ease the situation.
After all, laughter is the best medicine.

Yvonne never got to meet her father who
passed on when she was still two years old.
Fate was to further inflict pain and sorrow in
her life when her mother tragically passed
on just after she turned seven.
Efforts to mend relations with her pater-
nal kinfolk in the last two-and-half decades
have been futile.
Resultantly, she has been left nursing
grave emotional wounds.
“I wish to have a DNA test because I don’t
believe I belong to the Musariri family judg-
ing from the way they snub me. They are
distant and not keen to talk to me or even
pass any information pertaining to my
father,” a dejected Yvonne said in an emo-
tionally charged interview with The Sunday
Mail Society at her Bulawayo residence.

Myths
Myths pertaining to the Covid-19 vac-
cines have primarily been spread through
social media platforms.
Among some of the damaging myths
are that vaccines contain meat substances
such as pork. For some religious reasons,
some people do not consume pork.
Another common myth associated
with the vaccine is that it can alter a per-
son’s Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).
Also, some people are going to the
extent of suggesting that after being
vaccinated, some people are not going
to be able to conceive.
Testimonies
Vice President Dr Constantino Chi-
wenga Thursday said the negativity
around Covid-19 vaccination is a function
of misconceptions and mistaken belief.
Speaking to journalists at his offices,
the senior Government official said he
is yet to encounter any side effects after
taking the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine
two weeks ago.

Her maternal grandmother Lucia Mut-
seta is not amused.
In fact, the obtaining situation is more
like a déjàvu to gogo Mutseta.
“I never imagined that my granddaughter
will get to suffer just like her mother,” sighed
a tearful gogo Mutseta.
“My daughter (Locadia) was impregnated
and shamefully rejected by the late Musariri.
At first, he denied responsibility. We went to
court and it was proved he was the father.
It was then, that he finally accepted. How-
ever, he said he was only interested in the
child and not the mother. In fact, his family
christened her Yvonne.”
The late Musariri’s daughter reached out
to The Sunday Mail Society for closure after
reading an article titled: “Chikurubi prison
break: The untold story” we published on
February 14.
She wanted this publication to help solve
her family “mystery”.
Throughout her schooling days, first
at Chimuduro Primary School and later
on Mt St Mary’s High School, she was
convinced her father was still alive.
“By virtue that no one showed me his
grave, I have always believed that he was
still alive. But after reading your article,
I broke down and cried as if he
had died on that particu-
lar day,” revealed

“I didn’t feel anything at all and I am
okay. As you have seen I am working
and I am fit 100 percent. There is nothing
wrong with this vaccine, the vaccine is
intended to save lives. Our citizenry must
take up the jab when an opportunity is
presented,” said VP Chiwenga.
In a bid to demystify some of the myths
that are associated with the Covid-19
vaccine, The Sunday Mail Society further
interviewed a cross-section of people,
among them journalists, medical doctors
and farmers that have since taken the jab.
John Manzongo, a Zimpapers pho-
tographer and one of the first journalists
to be vaccinated against Covid-19 notes
scepticism is behind some of the rumours
that are being spread.
“Vaccination creates a safe world for all
of us. Some people are sceptical about
vaccination. If people got vaccinated for
measles and other diseases, then why are
they doubting this vaccination exercise,”
Manzongo said.
Two weeks after getting the first jab,
Manzongo said he is still “as fit as always.”

Family feud
The soft spoken lady recounts the “hor-
ror” that confronted her after visiting her
paternal grandparents in Rusape for the
first time in 2012.
She wanted the Musariri family to assist
her acquire a national identity card.
But the visit, though not longer than a
day, turned out to be horrendous.
“The only positive thing my paternal
grandmother said to me was ‘I knew you
would come one day, you belong here’, and
that was it,” recounts
“Look at me. Do I look sick? I am in the
best of my health and I am looking for-
ward to getting the second jab at the end
of the month,” Manzongo said.
Leeroy Dzenga, a reporter with The
Sunday Mail said the death of a friend,
fellow journalist Zororo Makamba and
the desire to live a normal life without
constant lockdowns pushed him to get
vaccinated.
“I lost a close friend to the virus and
some of my family members tested posi-
tive. I had a really bad time as I witnessed
people I love suffer. I then decided to get
vaccinated,” Dzenga said.
“As a journalist, we were forced to do
our work over the phone without really
mixing and mingling with our sources.
This was not an ideal situation. If we do
not get vaccinated, we will be forced to
have future lockdowns.”
A medical doctor, Dr Raymond Dhli-
wayo said getting vaccinated comes with
advantages.
“I was vaccinated myself and the

These people who feign to have a personal
liking for people they grew up with can develop
an armchair relationship with someone to a
point where they will be mistaken for core
workers at a workplace.
Fellow workers will even lend them small
amounts of cash and even chickens.
It can be worse if your workmate falls in love
with these hangers-on. They will volunteer all
they know about you to workmates. In some
instances, they will even blame you for their
break-up should their relationships turn sour.
Did you know the Level Four lockdown
which had a lot of travel restrictions was a
blessing in disguise? It served the twin pur-
pose of preventing the spread of coronavirus
and keeping these notorious characters at bay.
Now that the restrictions have been lifted
and people can move freely without the need
for letters, the guys are out in full force.
They will be hopping from one office to the
other meeting long-forgotten acquaintances
and sharing with them lockdown rumours.
Theirs is really a dog’s life, but someone has
got to live it.

THE world unites in celebrating International
Women’s Day (IWD) ON Monday.
The event is held annually on March 8,
and this year’s campaign is running under
the theme #ChooseToChallenge.
It is based on the idea that a challenged
world is an alert world and individually, we are
responsible for our own thoughts and actions.
“We can all choose to challenge and call out
gender bias and inequality. We can all choose
to seek out and celebrate women’s achieve-
ments. Collectively, we can all help create an
inclusive world,” the campaign states. However,
this year’s celebrations are going virtual due
to the raging coronavirus pandemic, which
continues to affect every corner of the globe.
Gatherings are strongly discouraged under
the ongoing lockdown measures.
“It would have been nice to physically meet,
march etcetera as women. Such platforms
present great opportunities for us to share
experiences and exchange notes on strategies
to overcome challenges that we face in the
corporate world. However, the virtual meet-
ings can still work,” notes Ms Alice Moyo, a
Bulawayo-based banker.
Women account for a huge chunk of the
global population. Back home, it is estimated
that they make up about 52 percent of the
country’s population.
“IWD helps us to celebrate the achievements
of women who have overcome barriers within
society. It is a time for us to reflect and come
up with fresh strategies to overcome obstacles,”
adds Ms Faith Shonhiwa.
Origin
It is difficult to exactly say when the IWD
began. Its roots can be traced to 1908, when
15 000 women marched through New York

A conference of more than 100 women from
17 countries agreed to her suggestion and IWD
was formed. In 1911, it was celebrated for the
first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and
Switzerland on March 19. In 1913, it was decided
to transfer IWD to March 8, and it has been
celebrated on that day ever since.
Things were made official in 1975 when the
United Nations started celebrating the day. The
first theme adopted by the UN (in 1996) was
“Celebrating the past, Planning for the Future”.
In 2011, former US President Barack Obama
proclaimed March to be “Women’s History
Month”.
Why do we still celebrate it?
Simply, because the original aim — to
achieve full gender equality for women in the
world — has still not been realised.
A gender pay gap persists across the globe
and women are still not present in equal num-
bers in business or politics.
Figures show that globally, women’s edu-
cation, health and violence towards women
is still worse than that of men.
According to the World Economic Forum,
the gender gap will not close until 2186.
On IWD, women across the world come
together to force the world to recognise these
inequalities — while also celebrating the
achievements of women who have overcome
these barriers.
According to a 2017 report by the World
Economic Forum, it could still take another
100 years before the global equality gap
between men and women disappears entirely.

IN the HIV care continuum, viral load
testing is the gold standard for HIV
treatment monitoring. Periodic viral load
tests are the most accurate way of
determining whether antiretroviral
therapy (ART) is working to suppress
replication of the virus.
Achieving viral suppression protects the
body’s immune system, helps people
living with HIV stay healthy and prevents
transmission of HIV to other people. An
elevated viral load suggests treatment
provision needs attention, including
offering adherence support such as
community-based adherence support
services.
The global HIV response has been
remarkably successful. According to
UNAIDS (2020), more than 25 million
people living with HIV (PLHIV) are
accessing life‐saving ART and the annual
number of HIV‐related deaths and new
HIV infections have both dropped.
Modern anti-retroviral drugs (ARVs) often
achieve viral suppression, meaning levels
of the virus are reduced to undetectable
levels in the blood. Undetectable levels
of HIV are below 50 copies per ml of
ART can be virally suppressed within 12
to 28 weeks. Viral suppression can be
lifelong if one continues to adhere to
medication.
This one test serves as a unique measure
of the quality and impact of HIV
programmes. As access to viral load
testing expands, it is critical to learn from
the lessons of the past, and to take a
systems approach to strengthening
every step of the viral load continuum.
Through viral load monitoring, all clients
on ART can now know how well their
treatment is working. A viral load test is
done at six months and twelve months
after starting ART, and annually
thereafter.
Viral load monitoring services are
available at all health facilities offering
ART. This means clients do not need to
travel far to get monitored and the
service is offered as part of client routine
HIV care.
A suppressed viral load (less than 1,000
copies/ml) is good news. This shows that
the treatment is working effectively, and
the HIV virus is not detectable in a

(EHR). EHR creates records for individual that is accessible electronically. The
initiative reduce the immense burden on health workers by eliminating the
redundant data entries that come from paper based system while making
data for decision making more accessible and usable. The Ministry of Health
and Childcare is now geared towards wider scale adoption of the EHR solution
across all public health facilities in a move that will make the advantages of this
technology more widespread

3. For the streusel topping: In a medium bowl,
mix flour, sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Add
butter and cut it in with a fork until crumbly.
Set aside.
4. For the muffin batter: In a large bowl, sift
together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon
and salt.
Make a well in the centre of flour mixture and
add eggs, pumpkin, olive oil and vanilla. Beat
together until smooth.
5. Place pumpkin mixture in muffin cups
about half full.
Then add one tablespoon of the cream cheese
mixture right in the middle of the batter. Try to
keep cream cheese from touching the paper
cup. Sprinkle on the streusel topping.
6. Bake at 375 degrees F (195 degrees C) for

“Monster Hunters” is centred on the unlikelihood of
a sequel.

It seems like a bad twitch but remember their last
collaborative effort “Resident Evil” initially grossed

STAR FM’s Shingai Mokina, popularly
known as DJ Mox is certainly transcend-
ing boundaries.
His stock keeps rising with each passing
show. It only takes seconds in his presence
to realise the definition of urban culture,
which seems to discharge from his being.
The smooth flowing gentleman has been
credited as one of the DJs making a con-
tribution to the local hip-hop industry,
thanks to his “Hip-Hop Havoc” show.
It is no surprise that he is championing
the hip-hop movement. The gentleman, at
one point “seriously” considered becoming
a rap artiste. “Hip-Hop Havoc” is Star FM’s
newest show and runs on Fridays from
9pm to midnight.
The show is explosive as it features
local artistes — unknown, upcoming and
established, plus the best in international
hip-hop.
“I am impressed by how the local hip-
hop scene has been growing, but I think
we have barely scratched the surface in
terms of exposing talent,” reckons DJ Mox.
His influence knows no precincts, as the
DJ is also “The King” of noon-day radio.

It is an undisputed fact that the situation

either. Family cohesion and community
development is suffering with each passing

However, Capitalk 100.4 FM has come up
with tailor-made programmes to restore the
essence of family, unite communities and
deal with other social ills.
The face behind some, if not most, of the
shows is none other than the affable Glendah
Fadzai Takachicha. Glendah’s shows are just
what the doctor ordered. She handles delicate
matters with a rare touch of maturity.
A true lover of humanity, and kind to the
core, her execution and choice of guests is
just superb.

programmes aired on the station, which is

“Capital Crunch” which runs from Mon-
day to Wednesday between 10am and 2pm
dwells on conscientising listeners on the
importance of family and the need for soci-
ety to co-exist.
Glendah does not end there.
She is also behind the “Marriage and Par-
enting” programme that has won the hearts
of many through its solid stance against
domestic violence.
The programme also looks at critical
issues like causes of divorce and its effects
on families.
Furthermore, she unpacks the full-time
job of parenting, which is a nightmare for
some parents.
In her discussions with a pool of marriage
experts, the soft-spoken presenter offers ways
to live harmoniously as spouses and families.
Still in the home, domestic helpers pop-
ularly referred to as maids, have a platform
to air their voices on how their employers
are treating them on the show “Kubatsirana”.
The show is aired every Wednesday
between 11am and 12pm.
So far, there have been shocking stories
of how domestic helpers are being verbally,
physically, emotionally and financially
abused by their employers.

The programme explores all forms of
relationships and challenges the use of such
terms as extended family.
Are traditional roles of crucial members
of the family like aunts and grandparents still
relevant? These are some of the questions

ertheless produced a steady stream of
ear-catching albums and singles that kept
him energised and relevant at least until
the early 90s.
He was born Neville Livingston in King-
ston, Jamaica, to Thaddeus Livingston,
a rum shop proprietor known as Toddy,
and his wife, Margaret, but grew up in
the same small rural village — Nine Mile
— as his childhood friend Marley, with
whom he attended an all-age school in
the nearby settlement of Stepney.
Marley’s mother, Cedella, was a house-
keeper for Toddy, and in 1963 she bore him
a child, Pearl, who was therefore a sister
to both Livingston and Marley.
When Livingston’s family moved to the
Trench Town area of Kingston, Marley
went with them, and for a time he was
part of the household.
Soon he and Livingston ran into Tosh,
who had also moved to the city from the
countryside, and, to add to the tangled
web, Tosh had a child, Andrew, by Living-
ston’s sister Shirley.
As impoverished teenagers Tosh, Mar-
ley and Livingston (nicknamed Bunny)
would sneak into Kingston’s open-air
dances to drink in the music of Ameri-
can artistes of the late 50s and early 60s.
they continued to live a hand-to-mouth
existence.
Some solace came in Livingston’s
embrace of the Rastafarian faith, but in
the spring of 1967, aged 20, his fortunes
worsened dramatically when he was
arrested for cannabis possession.
Sentenced to 18 months’ hard labour
in Kingston’s brutal General Penitentiary,
after several months he was transferred
to the prison farm, earning privileges
through his value to the jail’s cricket team
and increasing his intake of marijuana,
which was supplied by the wardens.
While Livingston was inside, the other
Wailers had begun to work with the
eccentric producer Lee “Scratch” Perry,
who helped to reinvent their sound and
hooked them up with the brothers Carl-
ton and Aston Barrett on drums and bass.
After Livingston re-joined them, they
recorded two albums, “Soul Rebels” (1970)
and “Soul Revolution” (1971), their first to
be released abroad.
But the ever-watchful Livingston had
been suspicious of Perry, and the group
eventually fell out with the producer over
financial matters when both albums were
