With regards to running water, when physical impurity falls into it, [the performance of]

wuddu is permitted with it, [provided] any effect of it is not noticeable, because [physical
impurity] does not settle with the flowing of water.

 What is Running water –
o If there is no sign in the dirtiness in the water
 Water that is generally counting as running is when a person takes a handful of water and none of the
previous should come in his hand, what is already fallen.
 Signs of filth – taste color and smell

Filthy water (small Quantity in which impurity has fallen

Still water or small quantity of water: impurity falls - water is deemed IMPURE even if no trace of filth appears

- Small quantity: less than 10/10 arms length (approximately 48 cm)

- Less than 36 arms length

DEPTH of a LARGE QUANTITY of Water?

The depth – if one reaches into it to scoop up water, the base of the water would not appear.

- Therefore, FILTH (NAJAS) has fallen in a SMALL QUANTITY of STILL WATER, then it is regarded as IMPURE
- EVEN if no trace of the filth appears or is visible
- IF the water is considered as a large Quantity of Water and an impurity falls in it -> it does not become filthy
unless the trait of filth becomes noticeable therein, and this is the sounded view.

 Flowing Water or Large Quantity of Water:

- Liquid Impurity Falls: Water is PURE, Unless ONE of the trains of water changes: COLOR, TASTE or SMELL
- Solid Impurity falls: WATER is PURE UNLESS its flow and viscosity are affected
When Physical impurity falls into either of the two sides of a large pond, in which one of the
two sides does not move when one causes motion on the other side, then wudu is permitted
at the other side, because it is evident that the physical impurity has not reached it.

wudu will be permitted at the other side because it is clear that najasah has not reached the other side.

The death in water of that which does not have blood flowing in it, like bugs, flies, wasps and
scorpions, does not spoil the water nor does the death in water of that which lives in water,
like fish, frogs, and crabs spoils the water

 If an animal does not have runny blood, its dying in water doesn’t make it impure
o Ex, mosquito, bee, scorpion, etc
 Ahnaaf’s Evidence - - Hz Sulaiman RA narrated that Prophet SAW said, (mafhoom)
o Hadith Mafhoom: if a bloodless animal does, then eating or drinking or doing wudu in that dish
is jaiz/permissible –
o so it is evident that if a dead animal is in food, ten the blood of the animal makes it impure

 Animals living in the water, if they die in the water, then it is impermissible to us
