NOTIFICATION FOR MAY 2020 INTAKE STUDENTS WHO OPT FOR


UTAR COVID-19 FEE INSTALMENT PLAN

This fees instalment plan is offered to all new students in the May 2020 Trimester Intake. This
applies to the foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for both full-time and
part-time studies. We hope the above financial assistance will lessen the financial burden of
the new intake students and their families who are affected by the current Movement Control
Order.

UTAR COVID-19 FEE INSTALMENT PLAN CONDITIONS

1. This fees instalment plan only applies to the payment of Fees stated in the Student Bill of the
May 2020 Trimester (“the Trimester”).

2. The fees instalment plan is limited to the following tranches:

 1st instalment payment is RM409 for all programmes except MBBS and TCM programmes
where the 1st payment is RM709, to be paid by the latest date as stated in the Student Bill.
 2nd instalment is 40% of the remaining fees, to be paid before the end of Week 6 of the
Trimester; and
 3rd instalment is 60% of the remaining fees, to be paid before the end of Week 12 of the
Trimester.

3. The student is given two different payment plans to select, i.e. Full Payment Plan of which
the student selects to pay in full amount according to the Full Payment Student Bill for May
2020 Trimester, OR UTAR Covid-19 Fee Instalment Plan of which the student selects to
pay in 3 instalments according to the 3 Instalment Payment Student Bills for May 2020
Trimester with different due dates of payment which are stated in the student bill(s).

4. Failure to pay by the payment due date stated in the student bill(s) shall result in the
imposition of the late charge and/or reinstatement fee. Students who are in arrears of fees
shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the University without further notice from the
University. The University shall reserve the right to take any appropriate action against the
Student for the payment of the outstanding fees despite the withdrawal.

4.1 2nd Instalment Payment Student Bill


Student who does not pay the 2nd instalment fees by the payment due date as stipulated in
the 2nd instalment payment student bill shall be deemed to have withdrawn from
the University due to arrears of fees. The student may appeal for reinstatement at their
respective Faculty/Institute/Centre General Office in week 7 and week 8. Upon successful
appeal, the student will be given a new student bill and is required to pay a reinstatement
fee of RM100.00 plus late charge at RM10.00 per week for each and every week of
delay.

4.2 3rd/Final Instalment Student Bill
Student who does not pay the final instalment fees by the payment due date as stipulated
in the final instalment student bill shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the University
due to arrears of fees. The student may appeal for reinstatement at their respective
Faculty/Institute/Centre General Office in week 13 and week 14 except for the Master of
Real Estate Management Development students or students with 12-teaching week-
trimester in the Trimester. Upon successful appeal, the student will be given a new
student bill and is required to pay a reinstatement fee of RM100.00 plus late
charge at RM10.00 per week for each and every week of delay.(For students of Master
of Real Estate Management Development or students with 12-teaching week-trimester
who are in arrears of fees on Week 12, they will only be allowed to sit for examination in
Week 13 upon payment of the fees arrears.)

5. Non-compliance to pay instalments by the payment due dates stipulated in student bill(s) may
result in the following:

 Student shall not be allowed to sit for examinations;


 The examination results and final academic performance result of the Student shall be
withheld by the University;
 Student Intranet may be encumbered;
 Student shall be deemed to have withdrawn from his studies without further notice from
the University;
 The imposition of the late charge; and/or
 The University reserved the rights to take any appropriate action.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Students are not allowed to change the payment plan once selection has been made. Any
request to change the payment plan will not be entertained.

2. Students who do not attend classes or discontinue attending classes in the Trimester without
notifying the University in writing of his/her withdrawal, shall be liable for all fees for the
Trimester.

3. The University reserves the right to reject any cases of short payment of fees by students and
renders their registration with the University as null and void.

4. The University is not bound to accept any late payment inadvertently accepted by the bank
after the due date. The University reserves the right to reject such payment and the
registration shall be deemed as null and void. In the event of such a rejection, the Bank will
refund the said payment free of interest and without any responsibility or liability whatsoever
on the part of the University.

5. The University reserves the right and has absolute discretion to review, alter and/ or amend
any terms and conditions herein from time to time.

REFUND OF FEES

1. Please note that the University Fee Refund Policy as follows:

(a) Fees paid will only be refunded, where applicable, in accordance with the provisions
of Clauses 3 and 4 on page 11 of the Information for Freshmen booklet.

(b) For students who have paid and registered after the commencement date of
programme, there is STRICTLY no refund of all fees paid EXCEPT Caution Money
upon withdrawal from programme.

2. Caution money may be refunded upon online application after completion of or withdrawal
from studies in which the online application must be made within one year from the date of
completion or withdrawal. The University may set-off against the caution money any sums
owing to the University including but not restricted to outstanding fees, costs of books or
items unreturned or breakage or damage to laboratory equipment or University property.
