Summer Missionary Intern Opportunity

Job Summary and Description


Interns working for CedarBrook Outreach will primarily assist in CedarBrook's “Reading and
Feeding Program” Monday-Wednesday. Other tasks throughout the week will include training &
equipping courses, working within the local churches, and community organizations. Interns will
be under direct supervision of CedarBrook staff. Tasks assigned to the Intern will be at the
discretion of said staff or supervisor.
How long is an internship?
The internship from May 24 Training Days - June 1-July 29 Program Days -July 30, 2021

What references do I need?


Intern applicants will need 3 people to complete reference forms.
• A current or former professor/teacher
• Your current spiritual mentor, pastor, or someone who knows you well in ministry.
• Your roommate or a friend who knows you well.
A reference cannot be a relative or spouse. Let your references to be expecting an email from
CedarBrook Outreach with a link to the reference form they need to complete.

What are the working hours?


Hours will vary, but Monday through Wednesday 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM unless other dates & hours
are agreed upon and approved through Director of Outreach.

How much support will I have to raise?


Interns will need to raise a total of $1,500 for the summer.
• If housing is needed an additional $400 will pay for housing.
• Interns will be paid $160 per week.
• Lead Intern will in addition to their support receive an additional salary of $150 per week.
CedarBrook Outreach will provide interns with a letter of acceptance to be sent with missionary
support requests. Acceptance packets will include sample missionary support letters and other
helpful material.

Are there any academic requirements for this Internship?


There are two different types of internships: High School Internship & College Internship.
• College Interns must have a minimum educational background of a high school diploma
and must be at least 18 years of age. A college degree is not required.
• High School Interns must at least be the age of 16 years old and are not required to have
a high school diploma.
What are the responsibilities of an Intern?
Interns will serve in many different areas. Interns will focus on developing relationships with the
people in our CedarBrook community by doing the following:
• Serving in our local KCDC housing and at-risk communities
• Ministering to our international community
• Leading our summer reading and feeding programs

What kind of outcome can an Intern expect?


• Interns will receive training in the non-profit world.
• Interns will have greater exposure to the Mission, Vision, and Strategy of CedarBrook
Outreach.
o Mission: to share the message of God’s love in the greater Cedar
Bluff/Middlebrook Pike community.
o Vision: to see Christ followers reaching and discipling their at-risk neighbors with
compassion, truth, and hope
o Strategy: To recruit, train, and deploy believers to use their gifts and talents to
communicate the gospel throughout our outreach programs.
• Interns will receive a certificate of completion from CedarBrook Outreach.
