With great pride, I warmly welcome everyone to the 11th International Scientific
Meeting of the Philippine Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

As everybody knows, the COVID-19 outbreak has changed the social landscape
of the world, cancelling many meetings, conventions and congresses all across
the globe. This Scientific Meeting was not exempt from that threat. It was supposed
to be held last year, however, it’s pretty clear why it was not able to push through.

As one of the oldest colorectal societies in Asia, we decided to push through with
the Scientific Meeting even with the current adversity facing us, even if it is through
a virtual platform. The strength of the Society and the resolve of its Fellows would
be more than enough to carry the cudgels of enhancing and advancing the
knowledge of colorectal surgery in the country.

The program contains diverse topics, all of which are updates regarding issues in
the specialty. We promise everyone a good three days’ worth of education, which
will be light and fun, but packed to the brim.

Once again, I welcome each and every one, and I know that everyone will get to
enjoy and learn from the Scientific Meeting.

Greetings of Peace and Good Health.

It has truly been a tough and trying time the past year because of the pandemic
and natural disasters. We had to deal with the cancellation of our Annual Scientific
Meeting and postpone it for this year. More than the conference deferment are
the trials that has to be drawn against health and economic crisis, loss of property,
friends, family and colleagues.

Despite all of these, the PSCRS remained resilient with unwavering commitment
and focus on our vision and mission. We embraced the new normal and the
changes surrounding us. We faced the threats and looked at the opportunities it
brought.

This year is unprecedented as we gather to bring you our 11th Annual

International Scientific Meeting ON-LINE. We put together an exciting program
and invited local and international experts to share their knowledge and
experience. This event will help elevate and maintain the highest standards of
surgical practice and promote the advancement in the science and art of Colon
and AnoRectal Surgery.

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall”.
