2. Progressive Rights Progressive achievement of economic, social and cultural rights. The
implementation of the obligations to respect and protect generally
requires. For example, the obligation to ensure the right to form and join
trade unions.
Assessment 2: Direction: Answer the following questions substantially.

1. What is right? What about human rights?

A right is something a person has which people think should not be taken away. It is a
rule about what a person is allowed to do or have. A right is different from a privilege, which is
something that must be earned. Rights may be put into laws, so they have legal protection.
Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the
world, from birth until death. These basic rights are based on shared values like dignity, fairness,
equality, respect and independence. These values are defined and protected by law.

2. Who has human rights? Expand your answer.

Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without
distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion,
national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

3. ‘’ Human rights can’t be taken away or transferred but can be limited when the exercise of it is
an affront to the rights of the others’’. What does this quote mean?

Human rights are rights we have simply because we exist as human beings. This means
that we are all equally entitled to our human rights. They should not be taken away, except in
specific situations and according to due. Similarly, violating economic, social and cultural rights
can negatively affect many other rights.

4. Cite real life situation in the Philippines showing clear violations of human rights. How do you
think the state can solve these human rights violations? Support your answer.

The most significant human rights issues included: killings by security forces, vigilantes
and others allegedly connected to the government, and by insurgents; torture and abuse of
prisoners and detainees by security forces; often harsh and life threatening prison conditions;
warrantless arrests by security forces. And I think to solve this problem I'll look at the system
first to see why that happened and then we will see if it will be fixed. I organize the people
within the government first and of course the implementation against that human rights issues.
