PBL Mental Health questions.

1. What are typically the most common causes of stress in


students?
A/: I think that the main reason for stress is that many times we cannot
understand the new topics and the teachers don’t understand about
that, and many times they do not think that we have other subjects and
other duties and they don't give us much time to do them.

2. What are the most common mental health problems suffered by


people in the educational community?

A/: I think it could be stress, anxiety and depression.

3. What are the signs and symptoms to recognize mental health


problems in the classmates and teachers around you?

A/: We must bear in mind that they are people external to us but I think
that with these things we can realize that they are going through a bad
time is:

 Lack of concentration
 Sadness
 Anxiety
 Anger
 Bad thoughts
 Lack of energy
 Slow movements

4. How do you think you can do as a future teacher to help your


pupils manage the pressures of life and society?

A/: I think that if the teacher has empathy it is more than enough since
the student can feel supported by someone, it is good that the teacher
is open-minded so that we can talk with them about everything we
think and what torments us and they are understanding with us
5. Do you think our universities and schools are ready to confront
and deal with mental health problems suffered by teachers and
students?

A/: I am sure that schools and universities are not ready to confront
these mental illnesses since there is still a great taboo in front of
them, people think that going to the psychologist is crazy and they
think that only physical illnesses exist and they do not pay attention
to it to mental illnesses
