It is my pleasure to speak on behalf of Kristen Matthews, Band Director at Arizona Middle School and
Hillcrest High School.

For the past 2 years, Kristen has worked at both Arizona Middle School and Hillcrest High School and
during that time she has proven herself to be an important member of our faculty. While serving as the
middle school and high school band director, Kristen has been responsible for coordinating Band
curriculum development from the 6th grade through the 12th grade. Additionally, she has been able to
engage students and increase the enrollment in the band programs.

As the Principal at Arizona Middle School, I have had the opportunity to observe Kristen in the classroom
and during Band Recitals. In the classroom Kristen shows her strength in knowledge of the material, she
has excellent classroom management skills, and she is an extremely passionate teacher that is able to
creatively engage the students into each lesson. Finally, Kristen has been able to successfully coordinate
and execute amazing band recitals that have received high praises from parents, students, staff,
administration, and district representatives.

I believe Kristen Matthews to be a highly qualified and knowledgeable Band Director who will be an
asset to your district.
